Micro Scalextric Super Stock Eliminators - Round 1

Top qualifier Alan started with a bye round and cruised down the strip in a rapid 0.471 seconds.

The first head-to-head was sixth qualifier Jeremy against seventh qualifier Andy Pl. The green Nissan got a fabulous start and that was game over. The winning margin 0.021 seconds and the ETs 0.507 to 0.526.

Bill's GT was quick - really quick... Iain watched him disappear into the distance. Bill clocked 0.483 to Iain's 0.519, the winning margin 0.037.

This was a close one. Jane looked to have caused an upset against the fourth qualifier, but Clive's Nissan got to the line 0.012 seconds ahead. Their ETs 0.505 and 0.518.

Andy Ph's chopped Mini looked sensational on the line, but Rebecca's Nissan beat it by a whole 0.229 of a second. Her ET was 0.450, but there were worried faces in the Sanditon Motorsport crew as that gearbox is starting to sound rather rough.

Pete and Ken's cars both sound super-smooth. Crazy Ivan put in an absolutely stonking run - 0.473 seconds - to leave Ken's Nissan 0.049 behind. The Canadian's ET was 0.522.

Rounds 2 & 3

The second round of eliminations began with Alan's first competitive run...

Andy got away very well - and there were gasps from the crowd when he was still ahead at half way... Alan turned on the afterburners and comfortably won by 0.032 seconds, carrying 11.769 through the line and an ET of 0.473.

Clive needed a great start to get near Bill, but his Nissan bogged down a bit off the line. Bill was away and finished 0.041 ahead - clocking a 0.477 to Clive's 0.501. Bill would meet Alan in the Semi.

Before that, Rebecca met Pete for a place in the final...

Wow! Crazy Ivan hooked up another incredible run - repeating the 0.473 from Round One. Rebecca got slightly the better start - and finished a mere 0.008 seconds ahead, her ET 0.469. That was a corker!

The only third round race saw Alan line up against Bill...

Wow! Again. A blistering run for both - and all eyes went to the results screen... Alan had it by 0.006 of a second - ETs 0.471 to 0.478. Close? Not 'arf.

That just about gave us the top two qualifiers in the final - although the third and fifth seeds had them both sweating.

Super Stock Final

This is how it lined up...

Alan in the left lane, Rebecca in the right...

And this is what happened...

Rebecca got the better start...

And kept on going...

A cracking ET for the winner and very consistent for Alan...

That gearbox will need some care and attention, but the Sanditon Motorsport Nissan is still the car to beat Super Stock 6.0...

Here's the ladder...

And the full stats of all the elimination runs...

Well done Rebecca. Very good win. I was also pleased with the consistency of the Mercedes  I don't think I have had a car that has run that evenly over a series of runs before. Thumbup Checkeredflag

NHRA Top Fuel Eliminators

Just two semis and a final this time...

Clive dispatched Alan by 0.184 seconds - their ETs 0.695 and 0.849.

It was the closer in the second semi - but no shocks to report. Andy overcame Rebecca's challenge by 0.049 - 0.737 to 0.783.

That gave us the top two qualifiers in the final, as expected...

And this is what happened...

It was close, but Clive had the early advantage...

Which he held to the finish...

A dominant performance over the two days by Clive and the Matco Tools crew...

Here's the ladder and the stats...

NHRA 4-Gear - Funny Car, Pro Stock & Pro Mod - Eliminators

The final action of the afternoon is the 4-Gear eliminators. Top qualifier Iain had a bye in the first round, the racing starting with Clive and Ken...

The Funny Car came out on top - Ken taking his first RCR win by 0.019 seconds. Their ETs were 0.837 and 0.850.

Second qualifier Bill showed no mercy, but Rebecca's Funny Car did show some more speed than in qualifying. The winning margin was 0.035 and the ETs 0.811 to 0.843.

The final first round race saw Jerome cruise past Andy's ailing Pro Stocker by 0.210 seconds - 0.847 to 1.047.

Semi Finals

Ken drew the short straw meeting Iain in the first semi...

Iain's run of 0.710 seconds was stunning and left Ken 0.135 behind, despite a decent ET of 0.846.

The second semi was bound to be closer...

And it was. Bill got a good start - a 0.006 hole shot, plus really good speed off the line. The DHL Funny Car was floundering. About half way, Jerome started to claw it back... he was catching fast as they approached the line. Surely he hadn't done it? The scoreboard said he had - by 0.003 of a second. Jerome's ET was 0.823 to Bill's 0.832.

Final

That put Jerome up against Iain in the final...

Jerome needed a miracle, but those do sometimes happen on the eighth mile...

Yet not this time. They were away pretty much together, but Iain started to pull a gap...

That had gone out to a tenth of a second by the end...

A great performance from Jerome to reach the final...

But Iain has built a beast of a Funny Car and everyone else has some work to do!

Huge congrats to Iain on a dominant show...

Here's the ladder and the stats...

Coverage will resume about 7.30 with the match race decider between Iain and Alan. Then it's Street Stock!

Match Racing - Round 3

The one match race that is level pegging is the Micro 2019 encounter between Iain's 32 Ford and Alan's Corvette. The coin toss put Iain back into the left lane...

Alan was away quick and crossed the line 0.019 of a second ahead. Both cars were pretty rapid - the Corvette clocking 0.442 seconds and 11.769 mph, Iain's Ford 0.454 and 10.146.

Congrats to Alan on two match race wins this time, Bill picking up a win against Rebecca.

Don't forget, if you want to send an extra car or two for some match racing, it would be great to see even more variety. How about some 1970s Pro Stockers on Aurora or AW 3-Gear AFX, Magnatraction or X-Traction chassis, sticking to the NTRA pancake rules? Auto World seem to be continuing with their X-Traction Pro Stock range, so that might be inspiration for another Nostalgia theme...

Some really terrific races there today. The cars are getting faster race after race.  Wrench
Rebecca is certainly going to take some beating, well done.

Micro Scalextric Street Stock Eliminators - Round One

Fourteen on the ladder would give us a nice, flowing competition with two 'proper' semi-finals. First up were first and last qualifiers...

Jeremy's Veyron was smoking badly on the warm-up, but suddenly found some revs from somewhere. Would that give Clive a surprise? The answer was... no. A routine 0.196 second win for the Audi R8 - and a 0.664 second run, compared to 0.843 for Jeremy. At least the body stayed on.

Next up and Sue served up a shock - her Audi TT putting together the perfect run to beat Bill's cute DB5 by 0.023 seconds. It looked like the Aston had it covered, but the Audi crept up and passed on the line. Their ETs were 0.665 and 0.693.

Another upset followed in the battle of the Boxsters - Rebecca beat Iain by 0.018 seconds. Another quick first round race with Rebecca clocking 0.675 and Iain 0.696.

No surprises in this one... Jane went through in 0.648 seconds to beat Andy's Alfa by 0.109. A quick time for the Nissan.

Seventh and eighth qualifiers and a close encounter expected. Alan got the hole shot, but Rose's Peugeot just wouldn't give up... she caught her prey just before the line - the winning margin 0.001 seconds. The ETs 0.724 and 0.731.

Jerome was quick yesterday and had way too much for his dad - the Veyron clocking 0.687 and winning by 0.037 seconds.

Two Aston Martin DBR9s faced off in the final first round race - Laura's green machine taking the honours by 0.031 seconds. The ETs 0.679 to 0.708.
