The September 2021 edition of Slot Car Magazine has just been published - the eBook will be available from Lulu over the weekend, followed by the print magazine from Pendles at the end of next week. Here's what's in the magazine this time...
- 02 – Camaro – Super Modified by Tony di Pastena. Is there muscle in this muscle car? Tony drives and modifies the Scalextric beast until the lap times tumble.
- 07 – SRC Tyre Testing by Hub Habets. Hub chunks the rubber to determine which compound is best for you, so you don’t have to.
- 12 – Lotus 38 by Ric Woods. Ostorero’s beautiful replica of Jim Clark’s 1967 Indy Car – available both in qualifying and race decor.
- 14 – Lotus 98T by Marc Abbott. It’s a 3D Lotus kit bash. Can the average builder produce an above-average looking model? Marc finds out.
- 18 – Power To The Pen by Tony di Pastena. Maru Samuilov is a talented artist who just happens to like race cars. So much so, we invited her to decorate our front cover.
- 22 – Holy Illuminations Batman! by Graham Pritchard. Don’t be kept in the dark... Get those front and rear lights glowing and locate poor Robin... there’s a passenger seat getting cold.
- 26 – Scalextric Goes Racing by Andy Player. Modified Fords are growing in popularity at 1:1 scale. Andy speaks to the right people to find out why... and replicates in 1:32 scale.
- 31 – Ferrari 166SC by Ric Woods. Another beautiful model from FastenBelts. There’s attention to detail and also a fine turn of speed.
- 32 – UMS Magnet Tester from SRC by Marc Abbott. “What do you mean, he’s won again?” If there’s a terrible secret to be revealed from your rival’s success, this gadget may just expose it!
- 35 – Lancia Delta HF 4WD by Hub Habets. Hub tests the Team Slot 1987-winning car and helps you spot those all-important detail differences from its sister car.
- 37 – Capricious Sideways by Tony di Pastena. There’s an updated motor pod as Tony tests Sideways answer to hop and flex... and it seems to work.
- IBC – The World Of Dilworth. Alleged stars and their even more alleged attempts to shine in our world of slot car racing, with some unexpected results!
For small businesses whinging and bitching and carrying on about customers not supporting them rather we import directly from the manufacturer ourselves.
I mean really WTF is the go with these kind of business operators? Does anyone know? I mean the order isn't a small one, it consists of eight controllers and a few hundred $$ in spare parts, tyres, guides, screws etc etc.
Well, I've got to say once again my contact to Atomic Slotcars goes unanswered as they did near on 10 months ago
I would like to ask if anyone has any feeling or data of comparative lap times between the Scalextric Porsche 962 C436 and the later Porsche 911 GT3R C 2786.
On the track in the video below I can get the 911 around in a best of 2.95 seconds but the 2 off 962's despite quite a bit of TLC is at 4.1 seconds.
I know the 911 GT3R is a car that is dominated by Magnatraction but the 962 also has a bar magnet and a lot lower centre of gravity.
The 962 is very tail end happy and can de-slot a bit easy, almost feels like the guide flag is lifting out of the slot. I had hoped that the 962 would be similar performance to the Cadillac's in the video, on the basis that they both have a lowish CG and inline motors.
I certainly think that the 962's have very well prepared tyres and I have tried some silicones as well with little difference.
Any thoughts?
Thanks Baz
Morning all
Is there anyway to revive the paint on car with tampo decals?
Bought a nice Scalextric GT40 in Gulf colours from a forum member with a faded front part of the bodyshell and just wondered if there's anyway to revive the colour?
Tried some T-Cut on a scrapper and that was too harsh.
Cheers
Rob

As a pre start of season warm up, I'll be holding a Test 'n' Tune meeting at the Brentwood RC Raceway South Weald on Sunday 12th September. Dust of those cars and put the rear wheels back on and come and have a race!!! The address is:
Brentwood RC Raceway
Unit K1 Frieze Hall Farm
Coxtie Green Road
Brentwood
Essex
CM14 5RE
The meeting will start at around 11.00am, although I will be there just after 10.00am to set-up etc.
If you're coming along for the first time, I have loan cars available, if you do not have your own. Race fee is the usual £5.
Hope to see you there. The meeting maybe subject to cancellation, should there be any change in the current Virus guidelines.
Cheers MrD
Hi slot-racers!
We are a club in Texas. We have actually been here almost 20 years now!
We are hard-body true-scale racers, primarily 1/32, and primarily close to box-stock. Carrera, Scalextric, Policar, Slot. It, Revoslot, Pioneer etc.
Our main track, originally Scalextric classic and now MDF, is about a 117' running length. We have a second track with wider lane spacing on which we run 1/32 and 1/24.
Club racing every Sunday at 1:30
