Sorry, still a bit behind with these updates...
March 2022 saw the first round of the Slot It DTM class at Viking.
It was close racing up and down the field throughout the month, but ultimately the Calibra's of Wayne H and Darren C finished on top, coming first and second respectively with the Mercedes of Ade C taking the last podium spot.
WHO/Digital Nascar Team Race & Legends Pairs Race - Wednesday 18 May
Regulations can be found here: https://www.whoracing.org.uk/who_digital.html
Doors open at 6.30pm - please don’t arrive earlier, unless you’re part of the set-up crew, of course!
As always, we ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them.
Race fees: £3 for adults, £2 for under-16s. We now have pre-pay options, including a WHO/digital season ticket.
Digital Wednesday format: The track is open for practice from 6.30, including a digital driving school aimed at new racers and those who need a refresher course. At 7pm, we allocate racers to teams for the Nascar club car team race. We’ll run 3 x 20 minute ‘segments’, with teams swapping cars. The aim is to get the most laps in the 60 minutes. Following that - at around 8.30pm - we have our Pioneer Legends pairs race, using racers’ cars. If you don’t have a car, there’s a very good chance you’ll be offered a ride as half of a ‘pair’, but there’s no guarantee. Two qualifying heats, a semi and a final bring us to the end of the evening by 9.45pm.
Covid precautions: Covid cases are dropping across England, but are still higher than we’d like. Please do not attend if you have any symptoms that might be Covid. This is to keep vulnerable members of the extended WHO family safe. Inside the Barn, wearing a face mask, practising good hand-hygiene and giving each other space remain non-negotiable requirements. We will ensure as good ventilation as possible - and will also have hand sanitiser and spare masks available if you forget your own. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Do let us know if you’re coming: This makes the job of our race control volunteers easier.
If the last couple of days are anything to go by, my free time is now very limited !
But for a good reason: our first dog. A 15 week old Chocolate Labrador Puppy atm, and full of it
Everything I used to do now takes at least 4 times as long due to playtime , training, and being followed everywhere
Every slot racer of a certain age has to have a Lotus 30 in his collection. Super Shells body, Jim Clark livery and a simple sidewinder chassis.
TopSlots n Trains currently have crazy low prices on virtually everything. Scalextric Sierra RS500 at £19.99 and NSR Moslers at £39.99 for example. But.............. they are closed till 4th June, PayPal is disabled and you have to give your credit card details which, allegedly, will not be charged till they despatch the items.
What is going on? Are they about to go bust or just having a mass stock clearout? If they charge you and don't deliver is there any comeback? Section 75 credit card refunds only apply over £100.
What do you think, worth a punt or not?
Greetings Everyone!
I just joined and excited to share some of my past Scratchbuilt projects.
I've always wanted to scratch build an inline chassis but I do not solder well, so piano wire and brass plate was not going to work for me.
So, I decided to build myself a "Retro Mod" chassis, using the inline configuration I grew up with, but with a twist.
As I was "imagineering" my concept, I decided upon using composite sheet as the base chassis material and fabricating the other parts with aluminum 6063-T5.
I had cut out a few dozen chassis designs with each and every one being revised, because it was crooked, uneven, or I did not like the design.
I started out with different sizes, but ended up selecting a .062" thick Phenolic G10 Composite sheet.
Here are a few of my recent chassis design pieces.
More to follow.
Thank you.
Ernie
Hello Everyone!
My name is Ernie.
What an fantastic website and I'm excited to be a member.
I grew up in the 60's, having run my cars at the San Francisco Ocean Beach Model Car Raceway.
I returned to the Slot Car Hobby about 12 years ago.
I left the San Francisco Bay Area and recently relocated to Oregon and still getting settled.
I favored 1/24 scale slot cars for many years, but now am excited to get involved with 1/32 scale - which is how I stumbled across SlotRacer.
I'm a retired Design Engineer having been involved in Automotive Restoration.
Primarily restoring Vintage Race Cars, Vintage Collectable Car (did a lot of Packards, Muscle Cars etc.,) and other automotive related memorabilia e.g., Vintage Gas Pumps.
I enjoy building my cars and prefer to employ phenolic composite sheet and aluminum angle for the chassis.
I'd like to share my completed scratchbuilds, so I did a search and was not able to retrieve the info I was looking for.
So, my question is, would it be against policy to provide URL links of my completed scratchbuilt projects which are located on another Slot Car website?
Thank you.
Ernie
The Inline Show is the second event in a four-event 2022 schedule at the Rock County Eighth Mile. In June, we'll be running only inline cars - the first time we've held an event devoid of pancake motors. The regulations and format are in the 'UK HO Drag Proxy Series 2022 Preview' thread here.
The race coverage starts here.
These are the classes we'll be running...
- Micro Scalextric Street Stock
- Micro Scalextric 2019 - Nostalgia or street bodies
- Can Motor Super Stock 6.0 (new class)
- Ceramic Inline 6.0 - Tyco 440 & Life Like M (new class)
- Inline match racing & exhibitions welcome
The Format: The events runs mid-week on Tuesday and Wednesday, with racing through both days - usually with the elimination rounds on the same day as qualifying for each class.
Sending cars: Aim for your cars to arrive in Brighton at least 72 hours before the first day of the event, so they can be quarantined (if necessary) and then registered for qualifying. Please also pack in a small box - max height 7.5cm if possible. These races are designed to be Covid-safe events that are accessible to everyone. You may - of course - send cars for several races or the full duration of the series - just let me know.
How to enter: Send me a private message or add a reply below. One car per class may be entered per person. Family members and friends are very welcome to enter too. I will message you with the address to send cars to. You will need to pay for return postage. Otherwise there is no race fee.
Overseas entrants must talk to me about customs forms on their parcels! The recipient (me) will normally be charged 20% of the stated value of the parcel, plus an £8 handling fee. As cars sent to these races are not commercial goods, I need to explain how to alert UK customs to this fact and avoid the fees.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Tony Brooks on 3rd May at the age of 90.
A great driver of the old school. The last surviving Formula One winning driver from the 1950s.
True racing drivers like this will never be seen again.
R.I.P. Tony
