TopSlots n Trains currently have crazy low prices on virtually everything. Scalextric Sierra RS500 at £19.99 and NSR Moslers at £39.99 for example. But.............. they are closed till 4th June, PayPal is disabled and you have to give your credit card details which, allegedly, will not be charged till they despatch the items.
What is going on? Are they about to go bust or just having a mass stock clearout? If they charge you and don't deliver is there any comeback? Section 75 credit card refunds only apply over £100.
What do you think, worth a punt or not?

He did once tell me that when you order or pre-order something, PayPal take your money straight away whilst your credit card only gets charged once he processes an order. That might explain why PayPal has been suspended if he is not around for a few weeks to put the goods in the post.

Thanks. Just ordered some spares for less than a rival sellers. Ditto a particular slot car I was after for less then another sellers 'Bank Holiday Special', even with their club discount too!
Cheers

Maybe a premises move / refurb that would be expedited by a stock clearance? Pure speculation.
They’re not closing down because a reopening is mentioned.

It will only need to be a small shop, there are not many cars left!
Maybe trains are where it's at...

I think it is very important to remember that small business's like these do not operate in the way of lets say Amazon Prime.
Basically I am saying cut them some slack until you really know that there is a problem.
I have just Googled Topslots N Trains and the photo's of the shop look very impressive, clean tidy and well stocked.

Happy to "cut them some slack" and I have always found them good to deal with in the past but it does strike me as somewhat strange. If they are having a major stock clearance prior to refurbishment or moving premises then why not have a big banner advertising the fact on the front page? What is the point in keeping quiet about truly massive discounts and hiding the temporary closure notice until you get to the checkout page? Their stocks in general, particularly the model trains, are also exceedingly low and their subscriber/special offers section has been more or less defunct for many months.

I’d agree it’s unusual not to be forthcoming with the situation, and yes, some of those (very) expensive trains are (very) heavily discounted.
I placed an order so I’ll let you know if I find anything unusual, or if and when I get my items without any issues.

I have bought a couple of 'nice to have' cars which have dropped into the 'affordable' price bracket.
