Beautifully displayed NSCC cars and paraphernalia, the latter available to all. Good to bump into some friends there. They had a great 'chill-out' spot too, with the best seats in the house.  Thumbup

On the right a minute portion of Phil Smith's stock, the fabulous 1/24th Cox machines. Not in my price bracket but Phil took most of my slot car money with some cracking deals on some 1/32 stuff, including the HRRS McLaren shown in a separate 'Mystery Machine' thread.

The Policar F1 Championship, with the eventual champ' (I think?). The tallest competitor, second from the left.

A stunning coach, not sure whether it was static or a slot - and one? of Roger Barker's stalls. Not all stalls had proprieters branding so it was difficult to keep track of which stall was whose, especially with someone like Roger, one of the organisers, who kept popping up all over the place. A busy man!

Four Lane Blacktop club members preparing cars and the computer ready for racing on their MASSIVE track.

Gaugemaster - distributors for many slot brands, plus a 3D chassis producer showing some beautifully detailed F1's.

3D printed products were really big this year - but not on the Hobbyclassics stand, where they were selling miniaturised classic Scalextric sets (for display, not operational.) Check out the 1.32 cars in the pic' to see the size of the mini-sets!

The HO zone was a bit out on a limb but if you missed it you wouldn't have seen this exquisite resin Jag'. Perfect  Thumbup

Plenty to see, buy and do. On the right in the distance the Slot Track Scenics Scalextric Digital track.

The drag strip where I was soundly beaten in a 'Best of three' by a friend who went on to win the Allcomers Challenge on Sunday!
Love the Austin. I have a 1/64th version in the same colour but without the flames.  Cool

The '55 BelAir was a standout with that chequered roof and colourful paint job.

Last three photos of the 3D printed figures, which were selling like hotcakes.

3D Bond - Derek Bond & 1/24th slots, looking towards the Alpine layout.

Shades of The Italian Job? The Alpine layout.

Laser-cut building kit manufacturers produced the Alpine set to showcase their skills.

Some of Martin De Ath's custom slots and part of the 'sales floor' at Gaydon.

Hi I am a teacher looking to get my year 11 and 12,s into racing as an incentive to complete work.
Don't have much experience/knowledge  with slot cars but do have a great workshop including a large CNC Router and  3D printers, lathes etc.
Would love to get the student to produce our own CNC routed track and eventually start  making/experimenting with cars (hence Im thinking of the larger 1/24th scale).
To get the ball rolling I'm looking for some CNC router files for a 1/24th scale, maybe a 3 or 4 lane track and buy our first cars.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

Something the public doesn't see, the time and effort put into setting up for the weekend.

It's estimated it took 16 man hours to set up this one display - and another 4.5 to remove it all at close of play on Sunday.

Below are just a FEW of the other exhibits and trade stands being set up for the show.

Just think of all the hours spent in preparation beforehand - and again once back at base in unpacking, repairing, restocking and cashing up. In addition there will have been a backlog of online orders to service for the majority of retailers. Add to that travel time and expenses for one and all - and in particular the non-UK vendors

Was it worth? H*** yes! WE enjoyed ourselves and see some of the other posts for the crowds who attended - and the looks on the faces of both the young - and young at heart.  Thumbup

Slot Track Scenics impressive Scalextric Digital track, Gaydon 2022.

If you build it, they will come.

But will they?

The stands are beginning to fill up.

I think I see something happening over there.

The tension builds!

They're here!  Wrench

Take a look at those boys faces!  Bigsmile

The photos don't really do the track justice. The attention to detail was amazing and the track itself went from junior waist height to almost adult chest height - maybe higher, with a long incline followed by a wicked zig-zag of straights and curves back to 'ground' level. Slot Track Scenics scenery and the Scalextric Digital cars and track took a real pounding over two solid days of racing but stood up well to the barrage.

Not so sure about the 1:1 marshalls. They must have been exhausted!

They were on their feet the whole weekend of intense organising, running and marshalling of races for a never-ending stream of people of all ages, friends, families and individuals alike.

Then they had to put it all away again!

Hats off the the STS team.  Thumbup

(No affiliation, I was just an amazed bystander.)

I found this lovely 1/32 McLaren at Gaydon, attracted by its proportions, condition, alloy wheels, sidewinder motor, full interior and - steering. The driver even has a separate clear visor on his full face helmet!

I'm delighted with it as it's of good quality, with some weight to it - but it seems to be a bit of a mystery machine. It has no identifying marks other than the ubiquitous 'Made in China' underneath. Several fellow 'slotters' were unable to identify the manufacturer but 'knew someone who could'. However, none could shed any light on it.

The obvious thing was to return to the vendor, who thought it was a 'one-off' by an American manufacturer that disappeared without making anything else - but he couldn't think of the manufacturer's name either.

Is there anyone out there who does please?

The five-day Jubilee holiday weekend begins with our WHO F1 event on Wednesday evening!

WHO F1 & Classic Cup Race Night - Wednesday 1 June  - Round 6 of the 2020-22 WHO club championship

Regulations can be found here: https://www.whoracing.org.uk/rules.html

Keep an eye on our Facebook page and this SlotRacer thread for all the build-up and race coverage.

Doors open at 6.30pm - please don’t arrive earlier (unless you’re part of the set-up crew, of course).

We ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them.

Race fees: £3 adults and £2 under-16s. We now have a pre-pay option - ask Terry for details on Wednesday.

Club Cars & Controllers: Our AFX Mega-G+ club cars remain available – each of them stays on its coloured lane. We also have a big box of DS, Parma and Ninco loaner controllers to borrow one for the whole evening. There is no extra charge for using either the club cars or the controllers.

Covid precautions: Covid cases are dropping - now at 1 in 60 people. For the moment, we’ll be keeping some precautions so we can keep vulnerable members of the extended WHO family safe. The main thing is to stay away if you have any symptoms that could be Covid. Inside the Barn, wearing a face mask, practising good hand-hygiene and giving each other space remain non-negotiable requirements. We will ensure as good ventilation as possible - and also have hand sanitiser and spare masks available if you forget your own. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
