Slot Cars

  • SRC Lancia Delta S4 RAC Rally 1985 SRC announced last week that the next project for their Lancia Delta S4 Grp B model is the 1985 Lombard RAC Rally – the WRC debut of the car. Two new Martini-sponsored models will be produced by SRC: that of rally-winner Henri Toivonen and of second-placed Markku Alén.
  • Fly New Tooling for 2022 Fly have previewed these 3D printed prototypes of three new cars for 2022. There’s a Mk3 Ford Transit, Renault 5 GT Turbo and Subaru Legacy RS. You can see more – including an initial list of 2022 releases – in the News section of the forum.
  • Slot.it Ford GT40 Brescia Corse – Sebring 1967 The first 2022 scheduled release from Slot.it is a model of the Brescia Corse GT40 raced by Nino Vaccarella and Umberto Maglioli to fifth place overall at the 1967 Sebring 12 hours. We hope to have more pictures and a full SlotRacer write-up in the News section next week.
  • Scalextric Passion – Fly collaboration Fly have teamed up with Scalextric Passion to release another fabulous Porsche rally car. Available in 350 units – including 50 with a ‘dirty’ effect – The Zanini-Sabater 911SC has 3D printed wheels to create a stunning replica. You can find out more in the SlotRacer Online News section.
  • Fly Porsche 911 London-Sydney Marathon Coming soon from Fly is the Porsche 911 that Sobiesław Zasada drove to fourth place in the legendary 1968 London to Sydney Marathon. The model comes complete with spare wheels, luggage and bull bars to safely defend against anything the route could throw at them.   • Hobbyclassic Renault 5 TS Carlos Sainz ‘Calafat 1981’ The finishing touches are being made on a collaboration between Hobbyclassic and Le Mans Miniatures. Carlos Sainz drove the Renault 5 TS in the road-racing Copa Nacional Renault Iniciación during the early 80s – winning the Calafat race in 1981 and clinching the title in 1982. The model will be available via the Hobbyclassic website very soon.
  • Micro Scalextric 2022 Scalextric’s 1:64 scale system continues to develop after a complete re-design. The 2022 catalogue features two brand new road & racing sets, including new tooling for a Porsche 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Huracán and the Formula-E Spark 2. Read more in the HO section of the forum.

  • VW splitscreen truck conversion Tibbs has jumped into the scratch building deep end with this fabulous conversion of a Kinsmart diecast. You can follow his work over in the Scratch Building section of the forum.

Publications

  • Mission (very nearly) completed The final three volumes of Adrian Norman’s amazing Scalextric: The Ultimate Guide will be published next week. This series is must for any serious collector of Scalextric – or anyone passionate about the brand. All ten volumes are printed at the print-on-demand publisher Lulu. There are more details in the News section of the forum.

  • SlotRacer Online Members’ Tracks Have you explored the SlotRacer Online website recently? There’s loads of fabulous content – including a selection of some of our members’ tracks. Reeve’s Spa-inspired creation is one of those layouts featured – full of atmosphere and plenty of beautiful scenes.

Slot Car Racing

  • HO Proxy Drag Racing Full coverage of last week’s action at the Rock County Raceway can be found in the SlotRacer Online Proxy Racing section. These little 1:64 scale rockets just get faster and faster – and a full schedule for the rest of 2022 has been announced.
  • GT3 Slot Car Proxy Round 1 The first round of the 2022 GT3 Slot Car Proxy Series took place in Vancouver last week. Host Alwyn (aka SuperSlab) videoed the whole session, which you can view in the Proxy Racing section on the forum. Those Ford GTs didn’t do badly!

  • The BRM V16 F1 Continuation Story In 2021, the Owen family brought the BRM V16 back with a continuation car unveiled at the Goodwood Revival. It makes for an amazing sight, an extraordinary sound and a heart-warming tale of a family dream that brought a legend back to life.

Automobiles

  • Alfa Romeo Giulietta 750G ‘Sebring’ This very rare streamlined Giuletta 750G ‘Sebring’ has recently been restored by Alfa Romeo motorsport specialists at Scuderia Del Portello. In a magnificent photo-essay on the Petrolicious website, Luca Orsi charts the history of this car and gets up-close at the Alfa Romeo test track at Arese, near Milan.

Motorsport

  • Rallye Monte-Carlo It was the dawn of an all-new hybrid-powered era for the WRC – but two past legends of the sport dominated the 2022 Rallye Monte-Carlo. Sébastiens Ogier and Loeb battled for their ninth and eighth victories in the principality over the weekend. You can find out what happened on the WRC website.
  • Trophée Andros at Lans-en-Vercors The latest round of the French ice-racing championship took place at the weekend in the Alps – not too far from the Monte Carlo Rally action. You can catch a full re-cap on the official website.
  • Rolex 24 Build-Up Preparations for the 2022 Daytona 24 hours ramped up at the weekend. Embracing new GT regulations, this year is a step towards a bright new future for international sportscar racing. You can follow all the build-up to next weekend’s race at Racer.com.
  • The Return of North Wilkesboro Speedway? Oozing with Nascar nostalgia, plans to bring racing back to North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina are on the cards. It’s not the first time there have been moves to restore this atmospheric short-track oval to its rightful place on the Nascar calendar, but this time there’s serious cash and local commitment behind it.
