Slot Car Racing

Slot car clubs are back in business. Southend Slot Racing Club, Nascot Wood and New South Wales Slot Car Group were back racing in the past seven days – Woodlands Fort Slot Car Club will join them this week. Clubs might be returning, but the Proxy racing hasn’t stopped… A competitive offshoot of the fabulous ‘Triumph TR7 Refurbs’ thread here, the first TR7 proxy will take place over the weekend of 20, 21 & 22 August 2021. Slot Cars

Pendle Slot Racing have produced two very cute Brabham Herald Coupé kits that fit on the PCS32 chassis. We take a close look at the kits and the history of the Climax-engined Herald over in the News section.

SCX have just released these photographs showing a pre-production sample of their new Ken Block Escort Cosworth. The official word is the cars will be available in Spain at the end of August. You can find out more – including two videos of the real car – in the SlotRacer News forum…

It was a weekend of awesome Escorts… Racer Sideways have released photos of pre-production samples for their new Mk2 RS Turbo Zakspeed models. You can find out more on the forum here.

It’s Ken again – this time showing of some Staffs Slot Cars hubs. The Staffs crew are building up an excellent range of alloys rims, with this ‘Classic’ style relatively new and the white 5-spokes coming soon. Find out more in the News sections here.


Slot Car Tracks

If you want to make your own buildings, Hub gave us a fabulous tutorial on his Swedish Rally Track thread. The whole thread is a remarkable account of the creation of an utterly wonderful slot car layout. You can find it on the SlotRacer forum here.

Carver’s Nya Racerbanan track is a work in progress. You can see much more of it – plus some unique buildings and figures – in ‘Show Us Your Track’ section of the forum here. Definitely a thread to keep an eye on.


Publications

Of all the slot car publications ever produced, the original Scalextric ‘101 Circuits’ booklet has to be one of the best. It goes without saying… ‘101 Circuits’ has pride of place in the SlotRacer Online Library. You can find it here.


Motorsport News

Formula E returned to London for the first time in five years this weekend. The new venue – in and around the ExCel exhibition centre – gave fans some spectacular racing, especially during Sunday’s chaotic and utterly absorbing Race 2. You can catch up on the action in London and prepare for the 2020-1 season climax in Berlin over on the FIA Formula E website here.

Nasser Al-Attiyah claimed victory on the Baja España Aragón after a bitter final stage disaster for Sébastien Loeb and new co-driver Fabian Lurquin. You can read a report of the latest round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas on the DirtFish website here.

Action from the weekend’s British & Midland Hill Climb Championships at Prescott was streamed live by Motorsport UK. If you’ve never spent a day at a hill climb event, this is your chance – you can catch all Sunday’s racing via the Facebook event page here.

A rather depleted British GT Championship field hopped over to Spa-Francorchamps for a two-hour race that served as an appetiser for next weekend’s Spa 24-hours.
