Scalextric Tuning
  • Scalextric Tuning Back in 2020 Andy wrote a ten-part series about tuning a Scalextric car, which you can now read over on the Forum. It was and still is an excellent, in-depth series, which works through the steps for improving a standard Scalextric model, to provide measurable improvements in lap times. Highly recommended!

Fly Lancia 037 Safari Rally 1986 - Criticos / Kravos

Lancia took five of the older 037s to Kenya in 1986. Although the Delta S4 had showed impressive form since its debut at the end of 1985, the rear-wheel-drive 037 was considered a more robust choice for the punishing terrain of the Safari. The S4 hadn't been tested in Africa and was far more complex to maintain and repair. There were three fully-supported works cars for Markku Alén and Ilkka Kivimäki, Massimo Biasion and Tiziano Siviero, plus local pairing Vic Preston Jnr and John Lyall - the latter crew had tested the 037 on national events. Two identical Lancias were driven by Criticos / Kravos and John Hellier / Dave Williamson - initially looking after themselves, but after Biasion and Preston retired, they gained the benefit of full factory support.
