Hi,

I'am a newbie to the Slot Car racing, already have 2 SCX tracks bought and som cars also.
Now iam on that fase were we start with some upgrade testing just for fun and see the changes i can get, both good and bad, to learn form it.

I already purchase two motors, the V12/ and i also bought the SCX Adapter to run them but cannot understand how to install the adapter, can anyone help me with some photos, or videos or step by step guide on how to do it?

Hello nberga,.............

1/ The larger (bulky) piece of the adapter pushes on to the plastic (endbell) of your motor with the 2 "arms" on the adapter leading the way.
The 2 "arms" fit  in to the indents on either side of the endbell  (where the metal tabs on the motor can are folded over to secure the plastic endbell).

2/ The small flat piece pushes on to the other end of the motor (the can end), with the flat side against the motor , and the raised angled bit on the top side of the motor.

3/ This complete assembly then snaps into the car.

Cheers

You will likely need a pinion press as well as a puller  Bigsmile

Don't cheap out on these............quality tools will not only provide more accurate removal/installation, but, they will last !!

Hudy, JK, and Sloting Plus, are a few of the brands I would recommend. The Slot-it puller/press is also quite good , and , popular, but see if you can find the version with the anodised aluminum housing......the plastic/fibre housing  version has been known to  flex a bit.

TBH, I have an el cheapo ninco pinion puller and press.
Not the last word in engineering by a long stretch but its done the job for several years no issue
There are many clones of this around, such as: Pinion Press/Removal Tool (GM665) (pendleslotracing.co.uk)
If you can find one locally in Portugal it will be an inexpensive but useful tool  Rofl

Chris,

Already ordered the Fibre one from Slot-it but already reserved for when available the Sloting Plus.

One more question, for the new V12 Motor, should i install the Resistor that comes with the RX-41 or it's not necessary?
The connections for the motor on to the little copper contacts i can solder directly right?

Sorry for all these questions but it's completely different from the 1/10 Electric i ran in the past.

The resistors are "RF" caps, and they are completely unnecessary,.......most folks remove them.

You can solder the motor wire directly on to the SCX contact strips..no issues (just make sure you test the motor direction before soldering).

You may want to replace the SCX guide and its "friction" connections with something a bit better........

Already ordered also some Guides from NSR and Slot-it.

I've got a small problem.

The pinion on the transmission wonders around and does not get in place, i'm guessing the motor shaft is not long enough to hold it secure in place like the RX-42.
Any ideias?
This V12/4 have a smaller shaft? Is there one with a longer shaft?

Or what did i do wrong?

cheers
