George Turner Models 1935 Fiat Balilla Berlinetta Kit
#1

George Turner Models SAL-161: 1935 Fiat Balilla Berlinetta 'Mille Miglia' resin slot car kit. Price £39. Available now.

George Turner has just unveiled his long-awaited model of the 1935 Fiat 508 CS Balilla Sport 'Mille Miglia' Berlinetta. It is a gorgeous model...

The Fiat 508 was a early European attempt as an accessible mass-produced car. However, the Ghia-inspired aerodynamic 'Mille Miglia' version is a work of art with its innovative teardrop shape. Less than a hundred were built at Fiat’s Lingotto factory - famous for it's roof-top test track. The aim was to produce a sports car that could compete in events such as the Mille Miglia and give the 508 some panache. Based on the 508 chassis, the Sport version had an uprated 36 bhp version of the standard 995cc engine - with modified cylinder head and carburettor - plus a 4-speed gearbox and hydraulic brakes. Teardrop-bodied cars came second in the 1.1 litre class at both the 1935 and 1936 Mille Miglia, before a Berlinetta took class honours in 1937. I am presuming the George Turner model represents the #45 Berlinetta that finished thirty-fourth (third in the 1.1c class) in the 1936 race, driven by Aldo Mazarra and C. Benedetti...

The kit contains body, chassis and decals - but requires running gear to produce a fully-functional slot car...

  • Unpainted, resin body shell
  • Resin single piece chassis
  • Resin radiator, axle clamp, dashboard, steering wheel, spotlight, headlights with lenses, headlight bezels
  • Vac formed windows and interior
  • Nut, bolt, and screws
  • Decals
Recommended running gear is listed on the George Turner website here, together with the dimensions of the model.

The Fiat Balilla kit cost £39 - for this Virtual Slotcar Bonfire Bonanza weekend, George is offering free postage on all orders and 10% off all purchases over £100.
