That super-thin braid wire must be so fragile after several decades and a fair bit of use.

Yes I am still nervous about it as I had very little to play with, but the guide does still turn in both directions without pulling at the wire....I think

The next Round has been scheduled to be at the Whitchurch Slot Car Club on the 21st August.

Well, I did give my Avant/Mitoos Truck a run and managed a 65.115 sec run with a Fastest lap of 6.492
I found it more eratic to run than my Merc, but it was out of the box as such without any Mitoos chassis adjustments.

But in the Spirit of the Dakar Rally, I will take my version to the Whitchurch Round on your behalf and if it beats me Merc, so be it.

The motor type is actually the same as fitted in yours, so should be comparable in motor power terms.

Graham, as prompted, I have undertaken the repair to the truck and got it back in the post to you, so you should have it in time for the Whitchurch round.

It was a Cartrix TX-5 Genius motor in there that had failed, not sure how old that must have been. Have fitted a Mitoos M6+ in it's place, as per the current Mitoos spec for the chassis. It's a 1k slower motor, so that might help make it a bit more driveable. It's held in place with screws through slotted holes in the metal chassis, so there was some fettling required to get the gear mesh just right. And I found some original Mitoos plastic pinion gears in my box, so that made for a nice original install.

 Good morning,

had a great day over at Whitchurch Slot Car Club for DAY 2 of the proxy. Paul & Chris had set up two stages, one SCX and the other Ninco.

We run the SCX track with the full set of obstacles just for the Category 2 SCX cars, for the other Categories the SCX obstacles were removed.

Paul was the Driver for the Category 2 (SCS) & Category 3 (ProCars) & Category 4 (Trucks)
Chris was the driver for the Category 1 (Ninco)

The drivers ran the same Category cars as before except Chris had a go at the trucks.

           

The Podium photo taken yesterday was incorrect, so I had to do a retake this morning back home.

Thanks for the opportunity to repair my truck... now I feel guilty! Happy to take any penalty due.

Can't believe Woodcote fettled his sand buggy before sending it in... maybe mine will magically run itself into a bit of form as the Proxy progresses.
