Global Touring Cars Challenge -Rounds & Results
#51

(15th-May-26, 12:31 PM)73emgee Wrote:  Thanks to the North Staffs Slot Car Club drivers and crew for hosting and Roadrunner's video.  This is my first Roadrunner's Proxy so I'm beginning to understanding how points are distributed between Events and Classes.  The updated "Scoreboard" on the main page of Proxy is very helpful.

I always enjoy knowing more about the tracks the Proxy will be run on.  Info such as Mag or non-Mag, racing surface, heat length, voltage , etc. are all interesting to me.

Looking forward to Round 2.

Bob

Hi Bob,
great to hear from you, your car has started very well.

The points are allocated seperately for each Event which defines the type of car racing (ie Smaller Saloons or Larger Saloons, the Middle Event for Super-Touring & Moden BTCC are really in the middle size category and have a more fixed rule set regarding construction )

In theory we should get progressively faster cars across the Events and in the Classes within the Events, so the simply points scoring based on number of entry cars for each Event should be distributed more or less according to car class types, however of course we get entrants who raise the bar with their entries and those who struggle abit more. Overall I think this provides a fairly even playing field for the majority of car entries but also does additionally reward those cars with outstanding performance as indeed it should. As we have already seen, circumstances or chance occurances  during a round also plays it's part, but I don't feel that with the narrow range of points overall it causes to much of a disadvantage for entrant cars to recover lost ground over the 8 Rounds.

In regard to the North Staffs Club track it is a MDF Santex coated track with copper tape. Hence you probably noticed on the video that some cars with perhaps softer tyres suffered more than others with rubber pick up, and quite a lot of tyre cleaning was needed in some cases. I believe the track voltage was 13volts (the normal club running voltage). The track lane length is said to be 100ft long, probably the longest track length in this series.

The photo is abit decieving as it appears to show a long curved section of track, which is actually just a long straight, but in order to get the whole track in the photo frame it was necessary to manipulate the photo with the camera lens used.
