Consequently we had quite differeing results, and gave us some new Podium winners amoungst our regulars. The Jaguar XK120B of ModSports making a return at the top with Batmanx Porsche 908/02 also back in action, so we had a complete field again.

And so for the last proxy report for this year
Merseyside Round 7
I had a great day with Mike on Sunday assisting with Marshalling and video recording the proxy round, and as it turned out the video recording was more important than just recording the running of the cars. We was also joined by my good friend Pete Crane from the nearby Hawthorne Slot Car Club at Liverpool. I have raced with Pete many times over the years around the Country and although he is amoungst the elite group of Top Slot Car drivers, he is very modest about it and is a true gentleman. So it was a great honour for us to have him give up his Sunday to drive for us which he shared with Mike. When you see the videos you will also see that Pete is of the traditional "Thumb Controller" users which is probably a first for our proxies.
On the otherhand an unexpected issue arose with the lap recording software "LapTrax" whick Mike had installed on his phone. It was apparently running OK until we tried running "Orange coloured Cars". It just kept missing laps on these cars, although in the end it seemed to work if we put a black piece of tape across the car roofs. But it was not until I got home and started to review the videos that I noticed that some other cars also had an occassional missed lap, and additionally some of the displayed car times were just incorrect by quite a significant amount!! So I decided to abandon the LapTrax results and do my own measuring using the videos recorded and my hand timer on my phone. As a double check I repeated measuring all the car times again the following day after, to be sure. I basically used the start and finish sounds to make the measurement whilst checking the number of laps run. So I think these results are are a great deal more accurate than that provided by the Lap timer
But you can judge yourself when I post the Videos.
The Series review will be tomorrow.

This is why we need videos, it's not the first time a score has been corrected after noticing something on the video...it won't be the last either.
I noticed an error from the last time we hosted, a missed lap due to a track call at just the wrong moment as a car coasted over the dead strip.
Life is like a box of Slot cars...

Targa Florio Road Race update
So not withstanding the issues with the lap timer, it was a very enjoyable Round, the track surface was very smooth and the track had good contrast between a long straight along the back and challenging curves at the front side. Our drivers used differeent controller types, with Mike running the inside lane and Pete running the outer Lane. The track was set at 10volts. Apart from the cars which were the most prone to falling off, most cars were run with very few de-slots if any in most cases.
So the overall results after Round 7
Classic Event
So we now have Modsports Jaguar, regaining the top after a difficult Round for the Batmanx Jaguar and Brumos Corvette ran really well on this Round and gets promoted to 2nd overall. Bangers Racing Ferrari did not seem so strong on this Round either. ModSports Jaguar XK120B had a good run this time and is making a strong comeback after the earlier rounds costly breakdown.
1st - Modsports (Jaguar XK120A ) 132pts
2nd - Brumos RSR (Corvette C1) 131pts
3rd -Batmanx (Jaguar XK120) 127 pts
Gran Turismo
Neither of the Corvettes seemed particularly running well on Merseyside, but Brumos car found better pace on the inside lane. Bangers Racing Cobra was very fast here, and good runs also from Equipe Trelawney's Ferrari 250P. But getting very close at the top.
1st - Brumos RSR (Corvette Coupe) 138pts
2nd - Bangers Racing (Shelby Cobra) 129pts
3rd - Demon Tweeks (Corvette Speedster) 121pts
Prototypes
A good day for both the leading cars here, from the rest of the pack BAracer Alfa 33/3 seemed particularly well planted on this track.
1st - Roadrunners (Ferrari 412P) 177pts
2nd - Ruscillo Racing (Ford GT40) 155pts
3rd - Demon Tweeks (Mclaren Elva) & Brumos RSR (De Tomaso)139pts
So the Class leaders are now:
Class A - Modsports (Jaguar XK120A)
Class B- Brumos RSR (Corvette C1)
Class C - Equipe T (Ferrari 250P)
Class D - Brumos RSR (Corvette Coupe)
Class E - Batmanx Porsche 908/02)
Class F - Roadrunners (Ferrari 412P)
So that's the last Round for this year, with the remaining 5 Rounds starting in January. All very close and based on the Rounds so far we could see more changes at the top.
Videos of Round 7 will be posted soon
