Slotting Car Proxy Club

I have a SlotIt Skyline which had a track width of 57.5mm, a car only used for Slot Rally before as it's uncompetitive against 60mm wide Saloons...it looks fine with the track at 56mm.
...this gives me a possible car to enter that I wouldn't have even contemplated with the old draft rules.

Have you used those tyres before Graham?...are they any good?

I have not used them, but I got the idea from East Lanc Club which use them as a control on their club track ( Policar) for their Slot it Touring cars, but they are said to be good on wood as well. I just ordered them to check them on my Slot it Touring cars for size before I finalise the rules regarding “Track” width.
Not sure they could be made to work on the Datsun or the Skyline as yet, although I would have thought the East Lancs Club races these cars together, but I will check anyway.

I have measured the track of a Fly BMW E30 which is about 56mm, so I would expect the new Slot it version to be there about also. So it looks like a reasonable compromise in order to avoid the wider DTM cars from dominating the Event, but I will try the PSR tyres for size to see if it is practice on the slot it models using the 10mm tyres.

Funnily enough I have a Fly M3 E30 with the bodyshell off right in front of me...mulling over keeping it standard or ditching everything apart from the bodyshell and some of the interior and fitting a 3D chassis under it.

Fly E30’s (with Amato chassis) make for a very nice car indeed…

Global Touring cars Challenge 2026 - update

.pdf Global Touring Cars Challenge Plan 6.pdf Size: 218.98 KB  Downloads: 28

I have made a few changes to the Slot it Tourers Event.
No control tyres -I did consider the PCS Control tyres and they would have worked, but with the proxies we always see differences in Round positions brought about giving the entrants free choice of tyres, so for me this adds to the unpredictability of the competition and I don't think it gives advantage particularlty to the DTM cars...probably the opposite.
Motors - Only the Slot it 21 & 23k rpm S-Bell motors & new black wrapper one will be permitted. From a srutineer point of view, I cant see the difference between the earlier two motors since recent fitted ones do not have the black plastic end casing, and although Slot it seem to be introducing the new black wrapper version just to make things more complicated I am not sure if this has the same V12/4  classification as yet ??
The outer tyre width Track for all cars will remain as 56mm, this is to reduce the DTM cars advantage over the other Slot it Cars.

You said you were getting some PCS grey tyres, did you test them?  I'd be interested just to know what you thought of them.

I did get some and tried them on the Datsun, Nissan Skyline and Calibre for size. They feel a nice tyre, good shape and quite soft. But I did not glue & true them for any car. But I know they are currently the control tyre for the East Lancs DTM club class so I am sure they will work well on a plastic track.
However really the club is using them to control the cars performance where the owners are running them against each other. In our case there are many different track types so it is better to allow the entrant to decide which tyre is best “overall”, as we see now some slower cars have the bigger advantage  when their tyres work best on some tracks. So it makes for a better contest than if everyone uses the same tyre compound which favours the cars which are just the broadest or best balanced.

Whilst we wait for the Manx Round 7 of the Global GT Proxy, I have an important change in mind for the Touring cars Proxy next year. Basically I don't like the idea of an exclusive Slot it car Event, so I have replaced it with a Control Class for Under 2.5litre Touring cars, and made the scatchbuild class as an Over 2.5litre Class, so the Slot it cars (with some restrictions still applied) will be split into the Under and Over 2.5 Litre Events. The DTM cars in the later and the non DTM cars in the former.
