GT Sports Cars Slotting

My choice for class A was the Batmanx Mercedes CLK.
And Brumos RSR Ferrari 458 for C.
Apologies I did not specify, I did not spot both had 2 same class entries Bigsmile

Wavegreen Good morning

and what a busy day it will be, testing of the cars, photos, videos (although they will be of limited). Checking ALS Ferrari if it arrives..
Also got to change tyres on my Avant Ferrari for the Oxford Rally tomorrow. And somehow fit in watching the Bahrain F1  Sun

But first the final look at the pre race predictions

And my own choices,

Event 1
Well it looks almost certain to be a BMW M1, although myself and Bangers racing have been adventurous and I think maybe will be mixing it throughout the series, at least in my case the Carrera body weight of the De Tomaso might be a hindrance.
I also all the cars on my rolling road and "attempted to measure" the rpm of the rear wheels. I am not convinced that the rpm results were anything like reliable so I might have to think again about how I do this, but I was struck by how some cars run very smoothly and was easy to measure and others appeared less well balanced and was more difficult to get a consistent result. In this regard, I was most impressed by Green Star Racings BMW 320, so perhaps that is going to be a surprise winner.
However if it to be a BMW M1, I am going to go with Brumos , an AW and with the predator motor in I think will be difficult to beat. The other most likely contender in my opinion  would be the B&W chassis version of LeManx, although his similar car in the Touring car proxy did struggle on some of the Rounds.
So I put my money on Brumos M1

Event 2
Interesting bunch of cars, I would generally favour the B&W chassis car of LeManx, but with the limited rpm motor and heavy chassis maybe the lighter more nimble cars have the advantage. In this case I will vote for my Slot it/NSR Ford GT40 hybrid, having almost decided earlier to run the NSR MK2 car, I found that at the local club, the former car was just more of a joy to drive, the latter car being more difficult to get the controller adjustments just right. So although the NSR Ford GT Mk2 was quicker and had more torque, I think the GT40 is a "safer" car to run. My biggest rival here could be the Policar Ferrari (if it arrives and is legal) which I am guessing will have the same  NSR motor in...then we could have a real Ford versus Ferrari fight on our hands.
So I put my money on my Ford GT40

Event 3
I would expect the Class C Mclaren to be the favoured car in this event, but the entrant having shot himself in the foot, I don't know how this will pan out. I tried to be as fair as I think I could be in dealing out the hated penalties. However Bangers Racing are extremely competitive based on previous experience, So I go with the Honda NSX as the favoured car.
So I put my money on Bangers Racing Honda NSX.

Event 4
Brumos took a hit with his original car (Mclaren 720) being rejected due to the width of the car, otherwise I think he would have been the winner. I kind of think that Sir Courtney with all his experience would have contemplated the competition was going to be mostly with the C Class cars, and his  expertise in tyre treatments is legendary.
So I just have to go for Courtney Sports AMG.

Class A cars
Very difficult to judge but overall I think Kevan's AM DB9  (even without the piano wire) will come out on top.

Class B cars
No doubt Courtney's AMG

Class C cars
Most difficult to choose, but I take a punt at Brumos BMW M1.

Best Team
I would fancy LeManx, with both cars having a very similar construction I don't think they necessarily will be first in the Events, but bound to be in the top 3 for most of the series. So combined they will surely pick up most points for Event & Class

A great overview there Graham  Thumbup

No doubt there will 100% be some raised eyebrows and very pleasant surprises and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the cars first hand and getting to drive each one.

Hopefully this time I won't get cramp in my forearm (yeah don't laugh) which hindered my throttle control somewhat driving the last few cars of the Touring Proxy (including my own car).

Just stopped to take a break from testing, a few unexpected issues found.

ALS Ferrari 412P has arrived……and has been checked, and passed. So looks like we have a Ford versus Ferrari battle of a conventional nature ahead of us. I already tested  mine so looking forward to see how the Ferrari compares later.

Ok, all the cars times have been recorded, just need to sort them out on Monday.
A couple of issues, one car with loose ballast another with loose interior. And a couple of wheel inserts and rear wings fell off. Which I think I will leave off now as they are bound to get lost otherwise on the rounds.

So just in time to hello to my wife before going to bed and then up at 6am for the Oxford Slot Rally.

Wavegreen Good Morning

As I need to crack on and get the cars packed for sending to the 1st Round, I will give mt report on qualifying later, probably tomorrow.

But here is the Qualifying times (seconds) which were recorded.

Entrants cars were selected randomly and in the pairs as arrived (as from the box) apart from mine which was run first.
Every car was run 5 x 10 laps and the fastest lap recorded for each run on my home based Carrera track. The Fastest Lap time over all 5 runs was taken as the qualifying time and therefore running position on the Recording sheets.

Why so many runs/laps for qualifying or does this count for points?

I think those times are purely for qualifying to create the run sheets for the proxy hosts.
