Just having another look through the eligible cars for Event 2 with an eye on something on ebay...this will probably be my favourite event and cars even though I won't have a car in it.

Hello! I have 2 questions at this late stage. 1. My BMW z4 Class A has black glazing, do I have to find clear glazing? 2. When payment due and how much is it? Can't see the wood for the trees!

Hi Mike,
you should be able to clearly see the interior through the glazing, so it depends on how dark the glazing is ?
The Registration/payment date is 1st February. £10 for one car and £15 for 2 cars.

There is also a general assumption normally used with competition rules which says that if it is not included in the rules you can't do it.
The rules do say Class A must have unaltered body, on the other hand lightweight interiors are allowed. So is glazing "body or interior" ?

However am I being pedantic, so at this late stage you can fit "alternative glazing" as long as it is representative of the original glazing, since otherwise no one would know if the car is fitted with interior and driver or not.

It is my mistake for not saying the black glazing is not permitted, which I will include in the next proxy.

It's a funny one, do you want to give Class A cars a better chance of actually winning a couple of events then it makes sense to allow lightweight windows along with the currently allowed interior and motor swaps.

It doesn't bother me as all my cars have the original windows...and they do OK Thumbup

I think in Mikes case he is not trying to improve the competitiveness of his car with "alternative glazing"
It's just he misunderstood that cars fitted with interiors have to be visible Bigsmile

By definition windows in a model car are supposed to be scale versions of 1:1 scale cars and in the UK these must be:

Windshields - must be over 75% VLT (Visible Light Transmission) - (not blocking more than 25% of light).
Front side windows - at least 70% VLT (not blocking more than 30% of light).
Back side windows - no restriction on VLT.
Rear window - same as back side windows, there is no restriction on VLT.

So strictly speaking you can have black rear and back side windows but black anywhere else isn't actually a window.
