Can Motor Super Stock 6.0 Eliminators
Sort of a new class - but really opening up our Micro Scalextric Super Stock competition so other chassis that use the same 6.0 ohm Mabuchi can are included. Of the thirteen cars, six were Micro Scalextric, five Tomy Turbos (either the ceramic traction magnet Racing Turbo, or the neodymium Super Racing Turbo), one Bulldog BDR chassis (based on the Turbo) and one Marchon MR-1, which was also adopted as the first Micro Scalextric chassis back in 1994. There were no Artin F chassis - maybe next time!
Our top two qualifiers were Rebecca's undefeated Micro Scalextric Nissan, just 0.001 of a second behind Nico's 'new generation' Marchon MR-1 Bugatti. Next were two Turbos - and then Kev's Micro. Let's see what happened in the racing...
Round One
The top qualifier had a bye round, so the Team Ken Corvette lined up against Iain's fabulous Mercury Hot Rod in the first race...
It was a comfortable win for the 'vette by 0.089 seconds. The ETs 0.509 and 0.593. The reward - a race against Nico in Round Two.
Bill and Jane met again, but this time it was an easy win for the American racer. Bill's 'The Three Stooges' Monte Carlo defeated Jane's Veyron by 0.073 seconds. Their ETs were 0.482 and 0.546.
For most of this race it looked like Clive was on for an upset with his 'Knackered Nomad'... but Kev's Nissan recovered well to blast through the line 0.048 ahead. He did leave it late though! Their ETs were 0.487 and 0.541.
The regular mismatch between Rebecca's Nissan and Andy Phillips' Mini was next. The Mini might be getting an engine upgrade for next time - it was thrashed by 0.316 of a second tonight. However, its slow pace does allow the crowd more time to admire one of the best-looking cars that runs at the Eighth Mile. The ETs were 0.446 and 0.736. Rebecca will have a bye in the next round.
Markus put in a great performance in the penultimate race - beating Jeremy's Nissan by 0.110. Their ETs were 0.433 and 0.543.
And finally, Pete drove Crazy Ivan to a 0.073 second win over Andy's Dodge Viper. Their ETs were 0.484 and 0.547.
Round Two
The three second round races should be closer, but no big surprises were anticipated...
As expected, Nico comfortably won his race against the Team Ken Corvette. The margin of victory was 0.079 and the ETs 0.422 and 0.500.
This one was close... and it would have been even closer had Bill not got a big hole shot. Faster off the start line, Bill crossed the finish line 0.024 seconds ahead - the ETs 0.484 and 0.491.
Pete drove Crazy Ivan hard, but it wasn't enough... Markus won by 0.067 seconds - his ET a rapid 0.428, against Pete's 0.490.
A bit of a slow-burner so far, but I expect this class to burst into life for the semis and final...
