Thunderslot M6 build
#21

And are those on the original (14.3mm?) TS air hubs? Were they a not very tight fit?

To be honest I do not recall which TS wheels I used on this car, (and I can't easily check as it is still away, running in the proxy),...but the tyres fit just fine.

They were both veryclose,........I sent the SW to the 2021/22 CanAm proxy, and after 6 rounds it is in the lead.

Can you recall what size rear tyre you chose for this build?

I can,...........I used some 21 x 11 NSR Ultra's (non Evo formulation),....trued to 19.5 mm.

I have since been playing with some of the Scaleauto "AS25" tires, and on a very recent Thunderslot M6 build, I have used some 20 x 10's with very good results.

I've been doing my own testing and find the A-S25 as good as NSR Ultras but the Ultras don't ball up anywhere near as much. I can get 3 minutes on a set of Ultras without problem but the A-S25s are only great for 2 minutes at which point you baby them or risk bad balling-up. This was 10mm wide tyres, wider ones should last longer with the same motor.

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

Both cars are beautiful chrisguy, a few of the guys I race with are using the TS cars for our CanAm class and doing well with them. I chose to use a Slot-it GT 40 that is slowly getting to where it is consistance in the handling department, and Slot-its are easier for me to setup. Thinking about a TS as a second car ...open cockpit this time, our members using them said they are almost race ready out of the box with just a tire change and personal tuning. Are the locking nuts on the pod standard or did you change them to locking, and do you have to pull the body to adjust the pod float? I have been following your proxy race good luck with the remaining races, Thanks.

Hello Big Bill,.......while out of the box, the TSlot cars are very good, they can be significantly improved with tuning,........a TSlot car with only a tyre swap and minor tuning would be nowhere in the CanAm proxy.

As far as the "Nylok" nuts,...they are not standard, and yes, you do need to remove the body for adjustments.

That said, for the little bit of work needed to adjust, they are absolutely worth it.......these nuts and the machine screws used, offer very small/precise levels of adjustment, and,....you never need worry that they will come loose and therefore alter your settings, nor will they ever fall out !!

For proxy race they are also very beneficial as there can be no "inadvertant"  Sun  adjustments made over the course of the proxy.

Cheers
