never mind OverSpa - Oh dear ...more like it.
Seriously - been procrastinating too long so here goes.....
As I am a vintage fan - I wanted to use a vintage track. Revell's track had 3.5ins between lanes so can accommodate 1/24th with a leetle squeeze. Having worked with it, my one issue is how tricky it is to join and also disassemble. I have a lot of track with little pieces broken off that will require some filler once the track is complete and then some repainting. It also worked out a LOT cheaper than Carerra, which does have the advantage of 4ins between lanes, but as a result, takes up a lot more space.
Started with 3 revell sets purchased off Ebay- an Atlantica and 2 Europa sets, and then bought a whole box of extra track as it had a number of half straight tracks which are very hard to come by.
For testing this is what the track looked like:
After retrofitting a grid under the track I played around a bit and have come up with this change to the top end:
I have sourced some high density type foam - used for preventing heat loss in a ceiling, and intend to lay these firstly all across the board as sound deadening, and then to build up the back straight leading to the bridge. It will be worked to create rock face. My last woodland scenics rock mould is in the post.. Using the poly under the track also allows one to cut it so you create a small cutting/valley for water feature or underpass road for spectator access.
This is as far as I got this weekend ....to be continued
