News "Triple Crown" Slot Car Proxy Series 2022
#41

Wavegreen Hi everyone, December already, only 4 months to go

As promised I have started a entrant list for the first of the 3 series.

Also attached is a complete copy of the American Road Race Rules ( with clarification regarding Class A motors)

I am planning on the Roadrace as a Tour around the various hosts and clubs which have kindly offered their services so far, I intend the series to start in April and end in May which would be about 9 weeks (hosts) but there is also possibility of  hosts near to each other  offering to run perhaps mid week  in a couple of cases, and for some hosts to run perhaps 2 stages to give us a total of around 12+ . So in terms of entrance fees I will announce these in the new year but they will probably be in the £15 per entry including return postage range to pay for the increased inter host transport costs etc. And of course without wanting to pre-empt anything, it is possible that the transport companies might have increased their basic fees by then.

Thanks Graham, can my classes be A and C please. I'll stick some pictures in the build thread at the weekend but probably a scaley Aston Martin vantage  and a pioneer mustang 68 notchback.

Hi, some entrants have mentioned that Class D is a little restrictive in terms of available NASCARS, as a lot of Scalextric cars are available post 1980. Mostly these are very similar in body shape etc as other NASCARS between 1973 to 1980.

So I have decided to include any post 1973 NASCAR into Class D, the Bathurst and Trans Am cars remain within the 1973-1980 timeframe as they tend to diverge into Modern GT3's etc after 1980 which really is already included in the Cannonball run Class A.

Updated rules attached

Wavegreen Good Morning,

I have updated the list of entrants below.
Also please note that I extended the eligible NASCARs only era from 1973-todate in class D.
Also the date at which the cars are received is brought forward Friday 25th March.

There is also a couple of Format changes/updates
1) as entrants are generally entering 2 cars each, the winner of each series will be the combined results of both cars (not just the best car as previously stated).
2) In order to avoid multiple equal listing of cars race positions at the end of each stage. The hosts will be asked to complete their stage recording using two sets of results (eg (a) fastest lap and (b) overall finishing time) for each car. The host can decide which criteria he prefers to use as the primary one, but in the event of a 2 or 3 car tie, the 2nd secondary result can be used to differentiate the final cars positions.
3) The Le Mans Cars series name will be changed to "Le Mans Cars Plus series" and involve classes related to actual Classic Races that either mandate the fitting of lights or not, but not combined (to avoid having to apply post race penalties). My current thinking is to have a Modern and a Classic Le Mans Class, Classic Can Am Class, and perhaps another ?

The current American Road Race Entrants list is filling up quite well.

I will announce a plan for the single seater GP/F1/Indy series soon, to be honest I have been waiting to see what interest there is in the Road Race first, it maybe that in future we reduce the number of classes from 4 to 3 or just 2 depending on how things go.

If I don't post again before Christmas, I would like to thank all our loyal entrants, hosts, clubs ( Mike our Facebook administrator), our sponsors and of course AP (Slotracer online) who stuck with me during this year. It has been a great pleasure.

Gonna host a mild shoot out between Class A and B car to determine which is going to the show.

Researching just a little looks like the Porsche 904 would be eligible for class B also.

I'm definitely IN, but I've no idea what classes at the moment, I'm not sure what I already have that is eligible, probably have to get something new.

sorry to say that the Porsche 904 is not allowed, as it was a car which technically was not a "Road Car" it was produced primarily to satisfy the homologation process for FIA -GT's.

You can always email me with some examples of what you think maybe eligible ?
I will give you a quick answer as to whether it fits into a class or not.

The 904 Anglewinder will be hanging out at home….one day it will find a proxy to compete in.
