UK HO Drag Proxy Series 2021-22 - Autumn Nationals - September

Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0 Eliminators - Round One

Twelve cars means six Round One races...

The traditional Nissan vs Mini bout started the racing. As usual, the Nissan won - this time by 0.232 seconds... but the Mini remains one of the best-looking cars on the strip. The ETs were 0.456 and 0.677.

Seventh place qualifier Nico beat sixth place Clive by a mere 0.016 seconds. It was a close one. The ETs 0.497 and 0.512.

Crazy Ivan was a big sluggish, but still beat Andy's Nissan by 0.036 seconds - the ETs were 0.501 to 0.535.

A minor upset... Eighth place qualifier Jane beat fifth place Bill by the slimmest of margins - 0.009 seconds. Both cars were a little on the slow side with ETs of 0.546 and 0.535.

Kev was quick - a 0.481 ET and a win of 0.056 seconds over Jeremy, who clocked 0.531.

Finally, Iain dispatched Ken by 0.030 seconds - 0.499 to 0.527.

Super Stock Round Two & Three

Rebecca faced Nico in the first of the second round races...

A winning margin of 0.036 seconds and Rebecca was through to the final. The ETs were 0.449 and 0.486.

Fighting it out for a semi-final spot, Crazy Ivan was still not firing on all cylinders. A 0.500 for Pete and a 0.528 for Jane saw Pete win by 0.027 seconds.

Facing Pete in the semi would be either Kev or Iain... Kev had the early advantage, but Iain's silver Nissan was hunting down its gold counterpart on the finish line. A win margin of 0.007 seconds went the way of Kev. Not a bad debut.

Only one race away from the final...

And Pete got a much better start... However, Kev seemed there or thereabouts less than half a second later. Who'd won? Kev had it by 0.001 of a second - 0.475 to 0.485 after Pete's 0.009 second holeshot. Kev was in the final...

Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0 Final

One a familiar car, one a newcomer - this was our Super Stock final...

And this is what happened...

It was close to begin with...

With Rebecca just edging it at the end...

Not many have got that close...

But it's another win for the Sanditon Motorsport Nissan...

Here's the ladder...

And the stats...

Phew. And that just leaves the NHRA 4-Gears. They'll need a warm-up, but everything should be wrapped up by 11pm UK time...

Who's going to win the final silverware of the weekend?

NHRA 4-Gear Eliminators

Our mix of modern Funny Cars, Pros Stockers and Pro Mods started with five races in Round One...

Pete's fabulous Bat Coupe Pro Mod was no match for Iain's top qualifier Funny Car. The winning margin was 0.424 and the ETs 0.729 and 1.135. Some work to do on the Pro Mod's chassis to get it running as good as it looks...

Race two saw Nico beat Clive by 0.173 seconds. The Funny car clocked 0.797 and the Pro Stock 0.961.

Rebecca's Funny car was a bit slow out of the blocks, but beat Ken's Pro Stocker by 0.123 seconds - the ETs 0.883 and 1.002.

Bill then swept aside Rose's on-loan Pro Stock by 0.176 seconds. Their ETs were 0.818 and 0.980.

Finally, Jerome and Andy had a closer race - they did qualify fifth and sixth after all. It was Jerome's DHL Funny Car that was victorious by 0.019 seconds - 0.816 to 0.826.

Round Two

Iain sat this round out, but Nico and Rebecca raced to see who'd meet him in the semi...

This was another close one - very close... Rebecca's GTX Funny Car started strongly, but Nico closed the gap... which was 0.018 seconds at the finish line... and the win went to Nico. The ETs were 0.789 and 0.799.

Bill met Jerome in the other race - the winner would progress straight to the final. Bill got away fractionally quicker and they went down the strip side-by-side. Who had won? Bill by 0.008 of a second - 0.813 to 0.817. Bill is in the final.

Semi-final
A single semi - and Iain would face Nico...

Both Funny Cars put in solid performances - which meant a win for Iain by 0.069 seconds. He'd meet Bill in the final. Nico and Iain's ETs were 0.797 and 0.731.

The final will be next...

NHRA 4-Gear Final

Iain and Bill lined up for the final race of the weekend...

And this is how it went...

A superb start by Bill...

But Iain had caught up by half-way and then stretched his lead...

A 0.077 second gap at the finish line...

Congrats to Iain on his second win of the day!

Here's the ladder...

And the stats...

That's it for the first weekend 'Autumn Nationals'. I hope you enjoyed it. It was certainly fun running all the classes at one event.

Congratulations to the race winners and finalists - and a very big thank you to everyone who took part.

I'll get cracking on the return boxes tomorrow. If you want your cars to stay over until November (an NHRA-themed event), please do let me know.

Plenty of space available on my right door, perfect visibility for the cameras...

Some of us need to know more about Hornet tires. What scales and sizes do you carry?
