UK HO Drag Proxy Series 2021-22 - Autumn Nationals - September
#61

Street Stock Semis

Holy smoke - these two semis were memorable...

Clive got a better start, but they were side-by-side down the strip. A 0.005 second margin at the end sounds about right... the advantage going to Jane. Their ETs were 0.613 and 0.621.

If that was close, the second semi was even closer. Off the line together - and they simply couldn't be visually separated the whole length of the strip... Someone had won by 0.002 seconds - it was Jeremy. Their ETs were 0.617 and 0.619.

Wow! I need a sit down after that.

Street Stock Final

Jane lined up against Jeremy for an all-Eastbourne final...

And this is what happened...

It was so close in the early stages...

But by the end, Jane had pulled out a tiny margin...

Enough for the win...

Huge congrats to Jane for yet another Street Stock medal...

Here's the ladder...

And the full stats for the elimination rounds...

That's it for tonight. It'll be a busy day of racing tomorrow - the coverage will start around 9am and continue through to the evening with the climax being Micro Scalextric Super Stock 6.0.

Thanks for running the series Woodcote & Co. Had to stay up to find out if Old Smokey could find that extra bit of speed to beat Razzle Dazzle...maybe next time!

I wish I could take some credit for building these two cars, but they are just as they were when they left the Nissan and Bugatti factories (+ artisan paint jobs). So I am in real awe of everyone here who has put together bespoke cars with both wonderful engineering and exquisite bodies  They are all a credit to the entrants and the event.

I love puttering with gears

NHRA Top Fuel Eliminators

Top qualifier Clive had a bye in Round One. So the first race was Nico vs Rebecca - 3rd vs 4th place qualifiers...

Nico got a poor start and the yellow Geico machine was strong down the strip  - Rebecca winning by 0.060 to face Clive in the second round. The ETs were 0.792 and 0.853.

The other round one race saw Andy beat Ken by 0.165 seconds. Ken's new Top Fueler is still a little tight, but sounds like it has the horsepower. The ETs 0.774 and 0.942.

Second place qualifier Andy had a bye in Round Two - giving us just one race...

Rebecca couldn't cause another upset, Clive winning by 0.077 seconds - the ETs 0.730 and 0.800. Clive would meet Andy in the final...

The top two qualifiers lined up...

And this is what happened...

A dead heat...

The first time we've had that in a final round! So they lined up again...

And it was very close again...

Clive had a slight advantage off the line, but not as much as last time...

The speed of the FRAM dragster over the middle third of the strip is legendary...

And it was just enough...

It was Andy in victory lane...

Here's the ladder...

And the full stats for Top Fuel...

After a teabreak, I'll be back with the ultra-fast Micro 2019 cars...

Nostalgia Micro Scalextric 2019 Qualifiers

Possibly the quickest four cars at the event qualified for a quick-fire eliminator...

Iain's car failed tech. His rear wheels & tyres measured at 0.534" - well over the 0.500" maximum limit. Unfortunately, that meant his car was disqualified.

Top Qualifier went to Bill's 'Vette - but only just...

Congrats Bill Thumbup

Eliminators next...

Nostalgia Micro Scalextric 2019 Eliminators

Nico and Rebecca faced each other to decide who'd race top qualifier Bill in the final...

Rebecca's red Mercury always gets a great start - and that was the difference in this race. Nico's ET was quicker, but Rebecca got to the line 0.003 of a second ahead. A sensational holeshot win - 0.452 to 0.446.

Bill's 'Vette was waiting for Rebecca in the final...

And this is what happened...

Another great start for the Merc, but Bill was catching quick...

And there was clear air at the end...

This was the scoreboard...

Congratulations - Bill is back in victory lane...

Here's the ladder...

And the stats...

A short break - and then back for some serious pancake action this afternoon...

Andy and all,

Well, that's embarrassing! I put the larger tyres on for this race in the hope of going sub 4, but failed to check that they were still within the rules for this class. Hope you'll accept that it was not my intent to gain an unfair advantage.
