Great coverage Andy.  I think you are well and truly setting the standard on Proxy event coverage. 

So, I am not sure that setting my TR7 up on my 50 feet 4 lane Scalextric Sport home circuit has exactly prepared it for what it's doing so far 

It was fun putting it together,  and I am impressed with how it looks, and goes on my two home layouts.   Somewhat more enjoyable than the original, that is for sure

Test Three: Hill Climb



All the cars were run at 11 volts, controlled with a Parma 45.

You'll notice that one of the cars did not start the stage. Unfortunately, the rear tyres didn't have enough traction to remain on the narrow single-lane track even at the slowest of speeds. For the safety of the car, driver, marshals and local wildlife, it was decided to withdraw the car.

Don't forget, each of you intrepid TR7 contestants will be receiving a genuine 1980s Scalextric Mini Metro bodyshell to add to the Leyland Legends possibilities...

The hillclimb is fun. I haven't finished tweaking the track to start on the scenery properly... but running these cars helped sort a couple of things out in my mind. Mostly, that I should get on with it - like Anthony has with his fabulous Kyalami track.

Congrats to the three different winners for each of the three track tests... It could be the Best-in-Show time bonuses that decide the overall results. That will all follow in a few minutes.

Thanks to everyone who voted and congrats to Rob on a well-deserved win!

   

Those added seconds mean I can reveal the final standings of this first TR7 Refurbs proxy...

   

It was a much closer result than I expected. Chris just pipped Jeremy on the three tests, a lead he stretched by three seconds thanks to the Best in Show votes. And votes almost got Rob onto the podium.

If you want driver feedback on the cars, message me. With a couple of tweaks, all the cars could have been contenders.... I did really enjoy the diversity of the chassis builds. Rob's car certainly showed a light TR7 with a standard Scalextric motor could perform well on the hill. Too much weight is tricky with the inclines - going up and especially going down!

At the end of the day, these three cars performed best across the three tests...

   

A very big thank you to everyone who took part. It was great fun to put the event together and have the pleasure of running your TR7s.
