Here are the results from the Ice Rink...

Everything is on schedule... so expect the video coverage of Test Two at 10am.

If you haven't voted for Best in Show, have look at what you need to do here. All SlotRacer forum members can vote... ten people have, so far.

It was the three 100g+ cars that did well on the Ice Rink. Will that carry over to plastic track?

Test Two: Skid Pan

Beware: risk of motion sickness!

The skid pan is a circle of Scalextric Sport Radius2 curves, powered directly by an adjustable DC power supply. I increase the voltage until the car starts to stutter or slow due to a loss of traction. The car is run in both directions and I take a note of the voltage when the car starts to lose traction.

That's the process when I'm setting up a car - but I've adapted it to time five laps for this second TR7 test. I start the LapTracker app when the car is at a stable speed - timing begins when the car triggers the phone's camera and then times the next five laps. I have noted the times and the voltage. The Test Two score is the sum of the ten laps - five in each direction.

Can’t believe how excited I’ve been waiting for round 2.

Thanks again for a great video Andy

I wondered what the skid pan would be. Now I know. Very simple, repeatable test. I expect it will be very sensitive to tyre preparation.

I think I'll set one up when preparing cars.

Is it just me wondering how a standard Tr7 would do. Just to see how much better these modified ones are. Might be a good idea for any future ‘update competitions’
I am enjoying seeing what can be done to these cars, keep up the good work!  Thumbup
