I'm off to RaceWars next week for a bit of wood track runnin,  and then I will almost be ready to send it off.

Any advice on front wheel height?

Are the tapes on the tracks in the series flush, proud or recessed?

I would tend to believe that on any "taped" tracks, the contact  surface would be slightly proud of the running surface ...........a bit of masking tape on either side of the slot on your set up block should work just fine to replicate this for setting your front end.

Braided tracks are generally recessed, and plastic, can be either, depending on the brand.

Most properly braided tracks have the braid surface recessed from the track surface a few thou.,.and virtually all of the better constructed braided tracks, have been constructed this way for more than 50 years......this is a precaution to stop the rear tyres from catching and lifting/rolling the braid. If the braid is even slightly proud of the running surface, it will lift/roll. Recessed braid does not affect conductivity whatsoever, and , guide height/spacing is adjusted track to track, depending on the recess.

Unfortunately, the differences in braid, rail, and tape heights make setting the guide height a bit of a compromise in a proxy setting,..............pick the most prevalent track type across the various rounds and set the guide height accordingly.

Well, what did you two figure out?

testing summary.

Tyres:
Ortmanns work well on wood tracks if the lane is clean, also work well on the ninco prorace wheels.

Braking and and Weight:
The Megane has no added weight, is light and as such brakes hard, very hard, compromising the flow of the drive.
In testing, I dialed down the brakes (on the SCP2) but of course the proxy host drivers will not have access to this tech.
So, this may be the real reason that aussie proxy cars are loaded with lead ballast.
So, how to temper the braking without deadening the acceleration ? Thinking cap on.  

Chassis setup. 
The hrs2 chassis has a slot.it inline mount and the rear 2 points float on suspension 
This setup accelerates and corners very well indeed and is also very forgiving, giving clear warnings when it is close to the edge.

Motor.
The scaleauto sc25b was thoroughly cleaned with an ultrasonic unit. 
The slow warmup and (occasional) puffs of smoke are gone. The comm is clean and the car went from box to track to full throttle without any stuttering, performing better than it's ever done, not far behind my  NSR c7r with factory fitted purple motor.

Body:
The new ninco body fitted and floated well. Lighter than the body used in recent UK proxy events (no lighting harness) and still shiny 
Still a bit worried about the fragile rear wing though...
The car has a tendancy to rattle a little under braking. My first best guess is that this is caused by the metal to metal contact of the body stabilisers.
I'll be putting some shrink wrap tube on the chassis' side stabiliser screws to combat that. 

Guide
Scaleauto red guide worked well and handled the recessed braid on the tracks at MK.
No understeer or roll deslots. I had planned to replace this guide with a wood guide after testing, but now, I'll probably leave this in place, just fitting new braid before shipping.

In summary.
A very good first test. 
Some more fettling and testing to be done prior to shipping.
