A cool little brother arrived to the Aztec dragster. This one's called Dyno-Mite. Care of Andrew at Slot Car Central. He threw in a free pair of tires. Nice surprise. Thanks Andrew!
This dragster is unused from the 1973-75 era. It simply sat in a drawer and aged. $32.00 US. He has one last unused dragster at the same price. Plus one still in the skin-pack for $45.00 US. Cheap like a bird.
It needs to be taken apart and cleaned up. New shoes. etc... braids? 14-ohm armature maybe?

A Spitfire 1500 also just came in from Full Circle Hobbies. Where's my tweed driving cap?

I have ventured into a 3D printed body. I purchased one a few years ago from Shapeways which was a complete waste of money, the material that it was made of was very brittle and broke as I tried to smooth out the deep lines left from the printing process. I have now purchased a Chaparral 2H from HWP and I am very pleased with the results. The plastic is smooth and only needed a very light sanding with 2000 grade paper. I will definitely be getting more from him.

Very nice Clive!
Your skills do Jim's white whale justice.
I was very pleased to see that the foolish notion that slot bodies should be capable of being tied into a knot, at the expense of any sort of workablity; has mercifully come to end. A happy medium was finally struck in AM-ville. Resilient, but workable enough to master ... imagine that!
Additionally, the printed detail has moved forward exponentially, and the annoying "tide lines" are all but a thing of the past. A pretty big jump all together.

One really big difference between 1/32 and HO. Smaller cars are much easier to sneak into the house.
What? Where did these come from?
Interesting interior in the Mustang.

I have been asked how to mount the rear wing on the Chaparral 2H. I did this with two pieces of brass rod. They were bent into a dogleg shape. A small hole was then drilled into the rear of the body and the wing mounts. This was then superglued into place. I have attached a photo.

Greetings Mr. Rock & Roll,
Thank you for your kind words.
I'm somewhat new to HO. Those are my first set of Road Race Replicas wheels. They look okay except for a few minor details.
1) The wheels have many tiny pits in the surface. You can see it in the photo.
2) One rear wheel doesn't seem to run true. Easy enough for the manufacturer to blame the installer.
3) Phil at Road Race Replicas charges $43 USD to ship a $5 set of wheels and tires to Canada. I had to buy these wheels from another HO supplier called Jag Hobbies that only charged $15 to ship a $75 order.
I bought several sets of Vincent wheels from Mike Vitale at MEV Originals. They look a little better made. I look forward to using them in the future.
The Corvette body was lowered to fit a little better. That was a fun task. A bit more involving than just shaving the body posts. Tall chassis under a short body.

Great job lowering the body, although I don’t know the original height.
I haven’t used Vincent wheels myself, but many slotters here in Germany use them and and like them for their manufacturing quality.
And maybe order them from the German manufacturer directly next time. According to his website he only charges $3,50 for shipping to Canada. Only downside: sometimes it takes a bit for him to react. But he delivers every time. :)
