Having looked at the video for a 2nd time, the Camaro was keeping up with the Rover SD1 for most of the first run, and if it had not developed an issue would most likely ended the Round in 4th place.
In the 2nd lane run it was markedly running slower, so I would say the loose axle happened near to the end of the 1st lane run.
So I don’t think the host would be aware of a technical issue until the 2nd run.

Adrian, I completely understand your frustration. When entering a proxy you are entrusting others with your property that you have invested both time and money into, and the last thing you want is to think that has been mistreated. I know this all too well as I have on more that one occasion received cars back in a poor and damaged state. I can assure you that had you car been in an unfit mechanical state at the start, we would not have run it.
I have also reviewed the footage and agree with Graham in that the fault started to develop toward the end of the first run and likely worsened throughout the second run. It is unfortunate timing in that the second run driver likely had no benchmark of the cars earlier performance and was probably unaware of what the car was capable of before the issue. Bare in mind the variety of cars and builds we receive in a single proxy, other cars - Paul’s Alfa GTV, Bangers Ford P68 and Makem’s Triumph for example - exhibit similar, albeit probably less severe, symptoms due to how the car was constructed rather than a fault.
All that being said, on reflection, I agree that had the issue been recognised, it would have been diligent to power off and abort the heat and investigate the issue, so I do apologise that it wasn’t picked up on sooner. I can assure you that your car is very much still in a serviceable state and hope that with a couple of tweaks it carries in this proxy

It's such a shame that cars get sent out that aren't 100% ready for the tracks, especially at the first round of a proxy, this is obviously for lots of possible reasons but hosts do generally try hard to ensure all our cars get a fair crack of the whip.

It’s fair to say the car did fall off, and we all understand that there can be frustrations for builders from time to time. Hopefully, drivers or spotters may recognize dramatic fall offs of the performance. I’ve seen a pause in proxy action to take a look at cars in some cases to limit unnecessary wear. If it’s a quick fix, done and racing continues if not, it’s handled after the round and sent to the next race. Although it’s not my proxy, and if ADEc is up to it, a quick fix and carrying on to round 2 may be an alternative as the car and builder have potentially missed out on a few points versus a zero for an entire round. Just a thought. Now let’s get back to racing!!

Thanks to the Viking running the cars and all that that entails. Just a point on cars performance etc.. as far as I can see my Alfa has to low a gear in place rather than the mesh as previously mentioned and on the video it was loosing out on the straights compared to the camero. It is what it is and I didn’t have the opportunity to run it on a wood long track before dispatching. Live and learn ?? but thanks to the drivers for keeping it on the track and not over driving it.

Good afternoon,
I am back from my hols, unfortunately the proposed 2nd round at Culverstone was not able to be completed in time so we will proceed with the Round at East Lancashire Slot Car Club next Sunday.
Many thanks to the club members of Viking Slot Car Club for running the first Round for us.

just had chance to watch the video's of round 1
well done Ade and all at Viking
noticed in the Event 2 vid , someone had written BARacer on my Capri's chassis and was announced as Jeremy's ?
the score sheet has it correctly noted and scored as my car
but to avoid any future confusion , the SRC Capri is mine ' team cube ' ., with the wire wheels
just an FYI for the hosts
