So top 3 Scalextric were sidewinders; coincidence, gearing, motor orientation? Anyone familiar with Scalextric know/have an opinion?

Most of the cars in this class were sidewinders, so probably not a fair comparison in that respect. 
The nearest in line motor car was the Honda Civic BTCC car which overall was running mostly in 4th, but manged a couple of 1st place's.
In general you would expect the sidewinders to have the edge, but in this class we only had the one in line that was truly on form.
