Once Graham comes up with an idea we throw it about quite a lot before he decides a final spec for classes and rules.
The last version of the draft rules is in this post -> https://slotracer.online/community/showt...8#pid44998
Thank you Kevan, I appreciate that. I am new to proxy racing as am racing in my first now and am learning a lot. I look forward to learning more about this one.
Thanks again for clearing this up for me.
Fred
One bit of advice I'd give you Fred, bearing in mind I'm relatively new to proxy racing myself, I think this is the third year for me, is build it as though you're going to race it yourself when it comes back.
Don't throw something together because you can enjoy racing it when the proxy ends.
We see past proxy cars raced on our club track almost every week... and future ones just as often as they get tested 'for real'.
We even changed the track voltage down to 12V (from the historic 13.8V) for all our racing to align with Graham's track voltage guidelines.
...I'll warn you though, once you get started and your car is seen in race reports you'll get hooked on it and start looking through your cars for the next one... ask me how I know

Thank you Kevan
That is great advice.
I am in
2025 - Mad Man Motoring (Triple M) Proxy - Group 5 proxy at the moment and loved building the cars for this. Watching them and seeing results and reading comments from Grant I have learnt a lot from this event already.

one other thing Fred
try and curb your enthusiasm until the rules are fully finalised
i have fallen into that trap too many times
and having prepped a car , have found it outside the rules and then had to start on another

What exactly do you mean by "your 60k motor and 3-tooth pinion aren't legal?"

Just as a quick aside, last Thursday, of the ten cars raced, four were past proxy cars and two were for the next proxy.

Really you are getting 3 proxies for the price of one, with my events. Consequently you have differences in the rules for each event due to car types and available construction types.
I try to cover a specific theme as fully as I can, as at the time I feel these are one off events and unlikely to repeat them in the future, having said that this is the 2nd Touring car proxy I have run. But things change and my view of what it should include changes.
We also have quite a diverse range of builders in our group of fellow entrants, so I am also conscious of this and try to ensure these desires are included within the event. And also we run the proxies on different track constructions which can also complicate matters.
I think I could have made things a lot simpler in the earlier days, like one track type, one car group, one set of technical specs. However I tried to offer something different from those proxy events elsewhere, so I kind of made the rule making a consultative process to try and make the best of a complicated set of requirements.

Other proxies have one winner, Graham's proxies always have multiple winners... that's why I love his proxies.
