Good MorningI spent a little time looking over the google database, and if you are inclined to mull over the data from the previous Rounds there is a lot to be gleaned from it.
For example I was quite surprised to see which Event type cars had had been the most successful on the different Host Venues (or track types ?)
So if you take the last Round, then it seems that it favoured the Rally B cars (Event 2) greater than in any previous Round. And during Round 3 the most favoured cars were the WRC Modern (Event 4) cars more so than in any round so far.
Interesting to speculate where the strengths may lie in the final 3 Rounds perhaps.........
Pitlane Review
So for Round 7 we did have some timing issues during the Wirral Stage, but this was probably due to the different way in which the timing was being measured on this track. Luckily we had the Videos to fall back on, which I had not registered before as being more than of general interest. But in this case it was really useful in picking up failings in the recording data which went unnoticed in the heat of the moment whilst running the cars.
So I would encourage all the hosts to record the sessions as much as possible where the circumstances permit.
However I loved the "Race of Champions" track at the Wirral club, I thought it had plenty of bends for the cars to negotiate but was also very fast which is why I guess the Rally B cars did so well on this Round.
We did however sadly have a retirement of Ruscillo Racings Audi Quattro with a motor/gearing issue, and SSRC's Ford Focus seemed to struggle more so on the tight bends due to braid alignment, which I guess if given another run would have faired better.
Courtney's cars were very smooth and fast, both in the top 5 cars of the Round.
Cumulative Results (Rounds 1-7)
Monte Carlo (Event 1)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
ManxAndy ManxKev RoadRunners
Jaguar XK120 Jaguar XK120 Jaguar XK120
Its always dangerous to speculate to much, but in essence it looks like the super cool Jaguar of ManxAndy is too far down the road for the others to catch up.
The RoadRunners seem to be able to out pace ManxKev on the recent runs, possibly might even catch up by the end
The Austin Healey in 4th but seemed to lost it's mojo on recent runs.
A good run by the Alfa Gran Turismo on the Wirral Stage, only to loose out with guide scraping the track at Mountain View.
Novissime Iterum's Austin Landcrab liked the last Round and ran quite well, but they need to loose some of the baggage on the roof rack I think to prosper
Rally B Cars (Event 2)
As I said above, this was the best Round so far for this group of cars.
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Bangers Racing Green Star Racing Harrison's Racers
Metro 64R De Tomaso Lancia 037
Similarly in this Event it is the Metro 6R4 of Bangers Racing which has a substantial lead, but for 2nd and 3rs places there is a really close battle between the De Tomaso of Green Star Racing and the Lancia 037 of Harrison's Racers. The Rounds have been less predictable for the 4th place BMW M1 of Savage GT, and there is a fair amount of catching up to do which will depend alot on the terrain of the last 3 rounds.
Rally Legends (Event 3)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
RoadRunners Savage GT BARacer
Fiat 131 Abarth Porsche 914/6 Triumph TR7
Still hanging on to my lead the RoadRunners Fiat 131 Abarth struggled on the last Round against the mighty Porsche cars, so alot will depend on the road ahead (fingers crossed). Savage GT Porsche is the immediate threat and is continuing to shrink the lead. BARacer's Triumph TR7 similarly hanging onto to 3rd but with the Porsche of Brumos now less than a second behind.
WRC Modern (Event 4)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Ruscillo Racing Bangers Racing Woodcote Racing
Citroen C4 Citroen Saxo Subaru
The Citroen C4 of Ruscillo Racing lost ground a little on the last round, loosing out to the Citroen Saxo of Bangers Racing whom is now only around 7 secs behind.
And Woodcote Racing's Subaru only 5 secs behind the Saxo. All to play for in the remaining rounds.
Car Class A (Standard RTR Cars)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Scott Sports Harrison's Racers Team Alaric
Renault Clio Lancia 037 Subaru
Scott Sports Renault still ahead at this point, but with Harrison's Racers Lancia 037 and Team Alaric Subaru not far behind.
Car Class B ( Modified or Scratchbuild)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
RoadRunners Ruscillo Racing Bangers Racing
Fiat 131 Citroen C4 Citroen Saxo
with only 10 secs between the top 3 cars, this could be a nail biting last 3 Rounds
Car Class C ( ProCars)
1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
Savage GT Green Star Racing ManxAndy
Porsche 914/6 De Tomaso Jaguar XK120
Savage GT's Porsche 914/6 looks confortably ahead of the competition.
Green Star Racing's De Tomaso has taken 2nd place from ManxAndy's Jaguar.
Brumos Porsche 914/6 is closing on ManxAndy's 3rd place.
Team Points
1st Place - Bangers Racing
2nd Place - Savage GT
3rd Place - RoadRunners +Harrison's Racers
Bangers Racing had a really good run with both their cars in the last Round, the Saxo seems to have improved throughout the series. However Savage GT is back on a charge with their cars also running well, and having overtaken the RoadRunners is now in sight of regaining the lead again. Harrison's Racers matching RoadRunners with a great run by both their cars.
So we wait to see what Oxo Cube at Goldrock has in store for us, I am sure both his stages will be as thrilling as the others. Due to the Bank Holidays / Corenation etc there are two weeks allocated for Kevin to complete his Round.
