Good afternoonwell what a great round that was from South Manchester Slot Car Club
Pitlane Review
some bigger surprise than I thought amongst that run.
Modern Endurance 24Hrs
First surprise was that Team tatters got past the BMW V12 of Savage GT, I guess home advantage played its part there. Luckily RoadRunners Merc CLK managed to keep in the top three but only just about, as Team Cubes Corvette CR6 was hot on the heels. The Astra V12 of BARacer is becoming a hosts favourite as it seems to need a little more control around the corners, but that can be quite exiting
Classic Le Mans
Another case of the rest of the field trying to keep up with Mountain Views Ferrari 250 GTO, but the AC Cobra of Bangers Racing was close behind. But biggest surprise (al least for me) was the MGA of Green Star Racing breezing past the Porsche 904 of Brumos RSR to take 3rd place.
The RoadRunners Aston Martin DBR1 put in a miserable run time, perhaps the lack of time to replace the chassis did it no favours, but BARacers Ferrari took full advantage of the Mers woes and snatched 5th Place. The long awaited appearance of the Maserati A6 GCS of Oaktree Racers finally made an appearance, even though the team still thinks the car is running in the MIllie Miglia
And the Cunningham C4R of Rokers Roar was slow...very slow but cruised along nicely.Daytona
where do we start....
The Lancia BMC of ALS Racing got the better of Ruscillo Racings BMW M1, Bangers Racing Lancia BMC found it's form on this fast track and if not for 1off would probably have romped home for 1st place. Team Tatters BMW 320i struggled abit on the home track which was a bit of a surprise.
But the biggest upset was the Camaro of Courtney Sport, not quite matching the pace of the leading Group 5 cars and then loosing a rear wheel, could have made 6th but ended up off the track at DNF.
InterSeries
The Courtney Sport's Porsche 917/10 made a commanding run, this car has some kind of jet powered motor I think
so smooth. The Ferrari 512M reappeared in this Round, to prove that the it's not just pure magnetic force keeping it up front
And Brumos RSR ran third with a predictably good performance.
So quite a riveting start to the series, with more thrills and spills I am sure
Next we are off to NERCS in Sunderland where the club will be doing it all again for Round 3
