I would like to appeal the steward's decision, in motor racing wheel and tire replacement are common occurrences and certainly not a DQ offence. I think the loss of the Wheel is punishment enough but to receive 0 points is, in my opinion overreaching. I would petition the stewards to have my 6th position reinstated and the corresponding points, as the repair was easily made, and did not hold up the event. Also note, the car ran perfectly during the shake down and the first 11 laps, shows this as a component failure, and out of the control of the builder.

A very nicely prepared request, but the way the Stewards see it is that the car failure was during a race, and that if the timer had been left to run, by the time the host had located a suitable part replacement and fitted it to your teams car, it would have been timed out anyway. If it had been a problem seen during the shakedown, of course it would have been fixed before the race started.

Following this incident I have amended the Host Briefing sheet which now clearly states that should a similar failure during a car run, ie wheel off, braid come out etc the hosts are instructed to DNF the car. So I will be consistent in applying the same criteria to all entrants cars. 

And I did give you 1 point for the Camaro for last place.

So very sadly (as I know it is a great car and did not deserve to be where it ended up) your request is denied.
