Round 2 Results SMSRC (Routed Wood)
Evening all, apologies for the delay in getting the results out.
Class A
1st Team Tatters
2nd Savage GT
3rd Roadrunners
Some close battles throughout the field but the grunt down the straight of the teamtatters AMG just edged the smoother better handling BMW of Savage GT, with the Roadrunners CLK rounding out the podium.
Honorable mention to the Astra of BARacer which was fast and smooth but a bit tippy and some offs lead to dropping down the order a little.
Class B
1st Mountain View
2nd Bangers Racing
3rd Green Star
A tight midfield but the top 2 had the edge in this class, both being smooth and consistent. The Green star MGA was a big surprise, it just kept gripping and was very easy to drive and ended with a very respectable best lap.
Class C
1st ALS Racing
2nd Ruscillo Racing
3rd Bangers Racing
Some surprises in this class with a different order than I would have expected from the shakedown. The 2 lancia were very different to drive, the Bangers Racing car's monster motor powering it down the straights and toasting some the opposition. Ruscillo Racing's M1 also overcame some skipping with being quick between the corners.
Should mention what happened to Courtney Sports Camaro, about 11 laps in the rear wheel departed on the gear side, towards the end of a very nice run. We did yellow flag the heat and repair before carrying on running the heat. After question what to do with Graham it was decided this would be a DNF as effectively the repair was carried out under red flag conditions. A big shame as it was a very nice run up to then but happy to report a new grub screw was installed and there doesn't seem to be any lasting side effects.
Class D
1st Courtney Sport
2nd Savage GT
3rd Brumos RSR
This heat was a little more spread out towards the pointy end of the grid with a variety of chassis (brass, 3d, plastic) contributing to very differently behaving cars. The porsche 917/10 of Courtney sport was super smooth and consistent, the Savage GT 512M was very punchy and the Brumos RSR Mclaren the complete opposite, planted and smooth but felt like it could have done with an extra 10k rpm on the motor.
EDIT: Sorry don't know what is going on with the images being all over the place!
