Micro Scalextric Street Stock Eliminators - Round One
First vs sixteenth qualifiers started the elimination races...
Jane dispatched Kev's strangely misfiring car by 0.260 seconds - their ETs 0.624 and 0.843. Jane was safely into round two.
Eighth vs ninth promised a close race, but Sue started well and maintained a decent gap to the finish line. Her winning margin over Rebecca was 0.074 seconds - their ETs 0.705 and 0.775.
As expected Bill comfortably got past Pete by 0.124 - with ETs of 0.653 and 0.745.
Likewise, Iain beat Mary by a similar margin - 0.115 seconds - with times of 0.652 and 0.758.
Alas, there were Ooohs and Aaaahs from the crowd when Jeremy's 'Smokey Joe' gave up a huge advantage to Pat's Veyron. Pat's car is a slow starter that then gets really quick - and it sailed past Jeremy's stricken car. Thankfully for the second-place qualifier, the pass happened after the line. Jeremy's winning margin was clocked at 0.087 seconds, thanks to a very big holeshot - their ETs were 0.781 and 0.812. A bizarre race - but Smokey Joe always provides entertainment!
It was back to normality as Jerome beat Rose by 0.110 seconds. Their ETs were 0.670 and 0.788 - Jerome must have been licking his lips at the prospect of meeting Jeremy in round two.
Nico banged in the fastest run of the round - a 0.621 - to beat Andy by 0.164 of a second. The Crown Vic was a disappointment after a strong showing in June, only managing a 0.766.
The eighth race of the first round saw Clive beat Anna in the battle of the Audi GT3s - the margin was 0.113, the ETs 0.649 and 0.736.
Next up, the Round Two races...
