I ended up painting my lines using tape and acrylic paint with a brush. It goes extremely quick and looks pretty good.  I used a narrow brush and only laid down 1 coat.  Peeled the tape within minutes of painting.  I've done it this way on every track.  I also am not concerned with "perfect" lines...no lines in life are and would look unnatural in my eyes. 

After my experience with this method on the Dutch Trio Track I agree with you; it's the way to go.
