Micro Scalextric Street Stock Eliminators
Okay, we're on to the big event - a full 16-car ladder for our most popular class. Jane's Nissan has won a lot of races (Jeremy can count up / weigh the medals and tell us how many...), but can she add the 2022 Spring Speed Nationals title?
Here's a reminder of the qualifying results from Saturday morning...
That means Jane lines up against Freddie in Round 1...
A straightforward win by 0.295 seconds, although I reckon Team Burley can definitely get more speed out of Freddie's car before next time. The ETs were 0.631 and 0.870.
Talking of Team Burley, Sue and Jerome were next - eighth vs ninth qualifiers. Sue seemed to have it won, but Jerome cruised through at the end with a 0.026 second margin on the line. Their ETs were 0.711 and 0.757.
Rebecca gave Nico a bit of a fright! What should have been a comfortable win was only a 0.030 margin - the Boxster clocking its best time of the weekend at 0.676 against Nico's 0.649.
No problems for Bill - his DB5 gave Andy's Alfa a good thrashing to win by 0.174. The ETs were 0.671 and 0.830.
What would Smokey Joe bring to the show today? A great start, followed by a rapid deceleration before the line. Thankfully Pete was slow - and had a very poor start - so Jeremy won by 0.096 seconds. Hopefully it was a one-off. Their ETs were 0.702 and 0.768.
Clive should remember - no cat treats, no favours. However, his Audi was too strong for Rose's stolen SPD patrol car - the winning margin 0.069 seconds and ETs 0.638 and 0.713. Rose is now free to terrorise the neighbourhood.
A long way down the ladder, Kev banged in a 0.623 run. Talk about making a statement! Anna managed a 0.731, but the margin was huge 0.140 seconds.
Finally for Round 1, Iain's Porsche beat Mary's Audi by 0.069 seconds - their ETs 0.670 and 0.730.
Street Stock Round Two
Jane responded to Kev with a 0.631 run. Jerome could do nothing about it - his 0.693 pass and a poor start giving a winning margin of 0.093.
Nico got a great start against Bill, but then got passed just before the line. The margin was another one for Nico to add to his list of 'what could have beens' - 0.004 seconds! Their ETs were 0.633 and 0.643. Bill would face Jane in the first of the two semis.
Smokey Joe was on fire in this one - but only in a metaphorical sense... However, Clive crossed the line 0.015 ahead as the Veyron seemed to dip in power again just before the finish. Jeremy's ET was 0.661 and Clive's 0.638. The second-placed qualifier is out, leaving Kev and Iain the top seeds on the bottom half of the ladder...
The final Round 2 race saw Kev fairly comfortably beat Iain by 0.043. However, Kev's ET - 0.617 - was noted by the fans and by Jane's team. Iain's ET of 0.655 was not at all shoddy.
More in short while, but here are the Rounds 1 & 2 stats...
Semis and Final next...
