Global Touring Cars Challenge -Rounds & Results

Championship Review After Rounds 1-7
Smaller Saloon Cars (Event 1)
Class A Mini type cars
Fiery1 -Hillman Imp (19pts)
Woodcote - Abarth 1000TC (15pts)
BARacing -Abarth 1000TC (11pts)

The Hillman Imp of Fiery1 extended it's lead on Round 7.

Class B Small Saloons
Brumos RSR - Porsche 911 (64pts)
Demon Tweeks - Porsche 911 (57pts)
Adec C -GTA & Roadrunners Datsun 510 (53pts)

It's going to be a very close call between the 2 Porsche cars of Brumos and Demon Tweeks on the last Round. Very surprised that the Roadrunners Datsun is running so well on this track.

Super & BTC Touring Cars (event 2)
Class C   Super Touring
Modsports - Audi A4 (75pts)
Oxo Cube - Sierra (39pts)
Roadrunners - Volvo 850 Est (36pts)

Modsports Audi A4 maintains it's domination of class C, another good run for the Volvo Estate on Round 7 puts it 3rd  Sun

Class D   Modern BTCC
73Emgee - MG-6 (71pts)
Red Dragon - VW Passat (55pts)
Bangers Racing - Honda Civic (52pts)

73Emgee MG-6 still on for the win in this class.

Larger Saloons (event 3)
Class E    Muscle Cars
Roadrunners - Falcon XB (70pts)
Oxo Cube -Falcon XC & Brumos RSR - Camaro (43pts)

Roadrunners looking good for the class win, Brumos Camaro making good runs in the later Rounds

Class F  DTM Type Cars
AdeC - Calibre & Bangers Racing -Peugeot 406 (96pts)
Modsports - Peugeot 406 (95pts)

We have a definate cliff-hanger for the last Round with all 3 cars in this Class up for the win.....but who will be the eventual winner at Wye Valley ??

Wye Valley Club Final Round 8 Track

Although the club has now a rather splendid Scaleauto 6 lane track replacing the previous Ninco track, I have chosen to ask that the club runs the proxy on this shorter 3 lane wood track in the back room. It will be easier to run as a race format with fewer marshals and easier to video.

I will hold the idea in my head of a "Shoot out" on the longer Scaleauto track if we are faced with a Tie breaker for any of the class winners (as looks possible)
This would probably be a one lap sprint decider as a single run.

Wavegreen Good morning,

we are approaching the final Round of this Proxy which will be held on Sunday at the Wye Valley Slot Car Club. I am taking the cars personally to be there are record the final race of the Series.

And announce the series winners:
Class A - Fiery1 Hillman Imp looks still to be the favourite.
Class B - Most likely Brumos Porsche, with Demon Tweeks Porsche as a long shot.
Class C  - ModSports Audi A4 is a certainty
Class D - 73Emgee MG6 also a certainty
Class E - Roadrunners Falcon has it in the bag
Class F - Vitually a 3 way tie currently between AdeC Calibra, Bangers Racing & ModSports Peugeot 406, and a very unlikely possibility the Red Dragons AMG (which would require a very unusual set of circumstances)

So good luck to everyone and may the best Cars win.

I have checked the cars prior to running them tomorrow.

There were a few issues,
Brumos RSR/ Porsche 911 - The side name ("Porsche") decal is parly loose on one side, so will need careful handling.
Krapspeed / Jaguar - Front fender loose in the storage box, send it back with the car next week.
Makem / Ford Mondeo - one of the eylets was is loose into the guide (falling out), so I have inserted some supporting braid into that side of the guide where the eyelet is inserted. Feels tight now.
Roadrunners / Falcon - front body panel needed gluing back on.
A couple of the cars are showing severe braid wear now, so I will take some along as a precaution.

Wavegreen Good evening,

I have just arrived home after a long day at the Wye Valley Club with the last Round.

I will be checking the results tomorrow morning, when I am feeling refreshed, but it turned out to be surprising day at the races.

We had planned to be using the small 3 lane wood track in the Club back room, but the hot weather this week had played havoc with the adhesion of the braid contact rail, and although it had been reglued down on the Thursday evening, we found this morning when we tried the first 2 cars that in some places the braid we set or had moved and was now to close together, and of course it was now truly stuck to the wood  Angry

So we reverted to Plan B, the very long new Scaleauto track.

To my knowledge the very first Scaleauto track to be used for a Proxy competition anywhere, and it is both wide (6 lanes) and longer than the old Ninco track by some 30ft, which it replaced, so truly an endurance track.

But anyway we had Phil Field and Sam Digby (two of the best slot car drivers of the British National slot car scene) and dear Ann in the very far distance helping me with the Marshalling.

So tomorrow the results, the good news is that as long as the results are verified tomorrow as being correct we do have 6 outright Class winners.
