Targa Florio Road Race Slot Car Proxy- REGISTRATION
#41

Because Group 3F is for non-metal chassis so to allow the Revo 934 into Group 3 it would need to have some kind of limitation.

An interesting statistic from the Wirral club Round was that disregarding the cars which were retired due to running issues.

Average Race time (sec)
Modified Standard Cars was 84.24 sec
Revoslots was 88.39 sec
ProCars was 88.32 sec (actual average x 2)

Average Fastest Laps
Modified Standard Cars was 5.25 secs
Revoslots was 5.05 secs
ProCars was 5.05 secs

I have pr-ordered a Revoslot Porsche 934 just to see how it runs for myself and measure the dimensions etc.
I would NOT consider entering one myself in the proxy

And by next week we should have the results from the Viking Club to compare how the Revoslot GT cars do against the other construction types.

That data bears out our own findings, they are competitive with pro cars without having an unfair advantage.

The only class we've found where they do have an advantage it's the small cars like the Alfa as there's not much competition other than heavily modified or scratch builds.  I've not seen a SlotIt Datsun so don't know if it would fit in our small class to compare.

I see Revoslot just announced they will next make the Mazda RX-7, so they are definitely going for a range of 70’s sports GT cars but as far as I can tell the Mazda did not compete in the Targa Florio ?

RX7 was released in 1978, a year after the last Targa Florio

As it is now clear that Revoslot are extending a range of GT cars into the late 70’s period, I have decided against making any concessions regarding metal chassis in Group 3 cars, there could well be others appearing before we start the proxy, which would mean more concessions etc.

I have provided a Revoslot metal chassis platform for earlier period cars in Group 2.

So if someone wants to run a Revoslot Porsche 934 or any other forthcoming Revoslot GT car listed as having participated in the later years of the Targa Florio, then there is always the option to fit a plastic or 3d chassis to the Revoslot body.

That makes sense as you can't make rules to accommodate cars that aren't even available.

Revoslot seem to release new models in a series in fairly quick succession, so I am anticipating perhaps a DeTomaso Pantera or Porsche 914/6 will be along before the years out.

It would be even better to see something not currently available anywhere else...
