Best in Show - June 2022

There were plenty of fabulous looking cars making their debuts this time. After much deliberation, these were whittled down to five and then to this trio...

The magnificent work on the engine in Iain's Merc was equalled by its sharp finish - a truly stunning car. Bill's Three Stooges Monte Carlo really caught the eye - simple, striking and fun. However, Rebecca's final decision was to award 'Best in Show' to Clive's 'Knackered Nomad'...

It's another great example of a weathered car, in many ways the opposite of Iain's, but also with the humour of Bill's. The more you look at Clive's car, the more it reveals...

Congratulations Clive! There'll be something extra in your return box - which I'll aim to get in the post tomorrow (Friday) morning.

There are a couple of people (Jeremy and Bill)  I need to contact about returns, but I plan to get all cars on their way tomorrow.

Finally, a big thank you to Bill for sending prizes - and to all those who have chipped in a little extra to help pay for medals etc. The goodies supply will be replenished for next time, so if any new sponsors (hint!) would like to send any samples, stickers etc - send 'em before September!

Both Jane and Bill had got the job done in their races so far, but who'd finish up with the winner's medal?

This is what happened...

Bill got a marginally better start...

... but Jane's Nissan was quickest over the final stages...

Giving a close victory of just 0.009 seconds...

Huge congratulations to Jane for another Street Stock win!

Here's the ladder...

And all the stats from all the elimination races...

Back later with Ceramic Inline and Micro Scalextric 2019...

Congratulations Jane!

Wow a really great race meeting. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to Andy for continuing with these events.
As for the Knackered Nomad, it shows that a badly damaged  body always deserves a second chance.
Thanks to all the racers as there would be no meeting if we didn’t send our cars in.
See you all next time.

The Knackered Nomad is now an international best of show champion, having won in the US and UK!  She is a work of art.  Mater still thinks she’s cute. Heart

Congratulations to Jane, Kev and Nico on your hard fought victories.

Iain, we continue to have races that are decided by micro seconds.

Great racing everyone!

Super show once again Andy!

Congrats to Jane, Kev, Nico twice!, and Clive for some cool looking and winning cars!

I was sulking from not being able to enter the race and Clive sends me a PM saying "Your "Team Ken" did pretty good in Brighton". I'm thinking either Clive or I had a muffler bearing come loose. So I respond with "I'm having a senior moment, Clive. What cars are you talking about?"

So I went and read the results. Oh my goodness!!! I had a good chuckle. A special thanks goes to Andy, Iain, and Clive for entering "Team Ken" in this race!

Everyone here is a winner as far as I'm concerned!!!  Checkeredflag

Thanks guys - glad you all enjoyed it Thumbup

Cars to Kev, Clive & Iain were posted this morning. Parcels for Bill and Nico will start their journeys tomorrow.

I've just reminded myself that the next race is 13-14 September...

That's ten days after the Brighton Speed Trials and just before the Goodwood Revival. There's also the Havant swapmeet and a WHO Digital Saturday ten days after - so a very busy month!

My cars arrived home safely today along with some very welcome goodies. Thanks to the sponsors for these little surprises.
A big thanks to Andy for the work that he puts into these events . Thank you for all the kind compliments about the Knackered Nomad. It is surprising just how much work goes into making a body look so bad.Cool.
See you guys and gals next time let’s get building. Wavegreen
