That's a good move. The only Evo motor I have is from the latest classics, so 21.5 or 21.9 k depending on which bit of the label I read. If I had more time I'd probably try that out but the fact every one else seems to be 25k+ put me off. Tbh the motor is holding ok at the minute, time will tell if it can endour the rigours of a proxy.

Exactly...I'm not doing too great in the Australian touring car proxy, but I'm learning a lot because of that.

For the GT3 proxy, I was told that it has basically become a tyre proxy...so as I don't have the opportunity to test and tune on wood, my entry is based on scientific theory and hope.

It’s a little more than just tires, for example I finished 11th in 2019 and with the same car , slower motor, new guide, original tires and 6 practice laps, I sent the car back in and missed finishing 5th by 2 points. My car was FAST but not easy to drive fast.  If it were tires everyone would run ultragrips on the car and send it or old NSR Extremes that have hardened slightly.   Having them round with a slightly round corner like Thunderslot tires, will get you to town.  Front end set up, ride height and weight placement are also key.
