This was my first proxy event, so didn't know what to expect. I set my cars up on my home track and went for "forgiving" handling. After all, the drivers had 60 cars to run and very little time to learn the car, so wanted them to stay on the track at a reasonable speed.
Class A, 7th in class
Subaru Impreza
Deeper sprung guild blade
Body lowered by 2mm and run loose
Lights removed
BRM F22 tyres on rear
Substantial ballast
Other than that, standard in line original spec.
Did better than I had hoped, thought it may have been too slow. Was running quite hot on test runs, so expected a possible burned out motor with hill climbs. Fortunately, it lasted the race!
Class B, 12th in class
Honda Civic BTCC
Scalextric car with, loose, PCR chassis.
Boxer 2 anglewinder
15.8 Slot It air wheels at rear. BRM F22
15.8 solid wheel at the front. Original tyres.
Sprung guide
Ballast
This is a fast car at home and on the NSSRC track, with NSR Extremes. The F22's were a compromise, but a best guess for the tracks it would run on. Performed better, on earlier stages.
Class C, 1st in 70s Classic
Scalextric body with Amato lexan interior and glazing
Slot It HRS chassis with anglewinder Scaleauto 20k long can motor.
15.8 Slot It air wheels at rear. BRM F22
15.8 solid wheel at the front
Sprung guide
Minimal ballast, loose chassis
Was good on the home track, but performed far better than I could have wished, in the road race. The star of my team.
Hope the breakdown of my builds helps someone, but please remember, I am a beginner and may just have had beginners luck!!
Great event and thank you to Graham and his team of stage providers.
