Belgian Kyalami - my Revell Track build
#51

Hiding the track joints will not be easy due to the expanding and contracting of the track parts.

Hub - it takes several iterations of paint but it seems to be holding up at the moment. Begs the question - do I paint the track once decorationg is done?

Some progress - started repainting and detailing and laying down static grass. The applicator runs off 2x 1.5v batteries, but I am sure there is some electronics holding and increasing the voltage to create the static electricity. I inadvertantly touched the empty sieve to my lips (as one does) - and man did I feel it. And I did NOT have my hand on the on switch Rofl Rofl

Start with colour - no grass.

Some grass added  (can see some of the covered joints)

Before decorating, I would apply the base painting to the track.
After decorating the track can be finished in harmony with the rest of the scenery.

Some updates

Just the start of the scaffolding that was so common at Kyalami in the 60/70's

A little more detailing (PS can you see the joints in these pics  Sun  ? )

I am not sure if this drip feed of the process - in pictures - interests you - should I just put up pics when completed??

Drip feed is fine. We can see progress that way, not a sudden leap to the finished object.

Ok so the drip continues...... Cool

I have sent a lot of new scenic items to my daughter in the UK whom we are visiting next month  Sun

One of the items waiting for me is this:

Which I will attempt to convert into this:

That is the Iconic Springbok contol tower (in the Background) that was there for virtually the entire life of the first track. When I saw this Magnetic Racing tower it was the answer to my desire to build a replica.

In the meanwhile the adding of detail and upgrade continues.....

A lot of invisble work has been going on - mainly electrical - adding some additional power jumps - has made a huge difference to driving te track

In the meantime painting of spectators has restarted up - thought I had enough - but once I started working out where the ones I had would go it became apparent i was drastically short. So 160 new ones from China arrived and I have started the painting while I wait to get all the scenic details from my daughters place :)

You like brightly coloured clothes like they were worn in the 1970s. Thumbup
