Slot.it CA44c Mercedes 190e - Ellen Lohr, winner Hockenheim DTM 1992. Available Q4 2020. RRP £62.95
The third livery on Slot.it's Mercedes 190e DTM is one of the works AMG cars from the 1992 season. The team were sponsored by the city of Berlin to back an unsuccessful bid for the 2000 Olympic Games. The signatures on the car are those of dozens of sports stars who supported the bid. The AMG-Mercedes team had a very strong line-up of Klaus Ludwig, Bernd Schneider, Keke Rosberg and Ellen Lohr.
Lohr was in her second season with AMG, having only turned professional at the start of 1991. Before that, she had performed well in karting and the junior single-seater classes - including a superb second place in the F3 race at the 1989 Monaco GP. When her single-seater career stalled with just one F3000 drive in 1990, she jumped at the chance to race touring cars for a works team.
1991 was a learning year for Lohr and 1992 started poorly. However, with three points finishes in May - including a second place at Avus - gave her confidence going into the Hockenheim double-header at the end of the month. In the first sprint race, Ellen Lohr became the first - and only - woman DTM winner...
The Slot.it model represents the car that won at Hockenheim. It has the usual DTM format of inline motor and features the new connector for easy digital conversion...
The Mercedes will be joined by two more DTM releases - a McDonald's Alfa 155 V6 Ti and a 'Cliff' Opel Calibra - plus the new Nissan Skyline GT-R. Pictures of all the up-coming Slot.it releases can be found here: slot.it/news
