I have several Team Slot Audi Quattros.  Most of them have the "standard" chassis - fixed motor mounts are the most obvious distinguishing feature.  These all run fine on my track.

One car - the yellow 555 China Rally livery, has the "Pro" chassis - the type with a separate, screwed-in (a bit like a Slot. It) motor mount.  This is the one that is causing me grief.   Tappingfoot

Both types of chassis came with the same type of guide - all  the dimensions are the same, I've checked them with my vernier caliper.  However, the blade on the guide is <6mm deep.  I suspect that the guide support must be a little higher on the Pro chassis.  I've adjusted the front ride height as much as I can without the tyres fouling the body, but still the car keeps de-slotting.

Any suggestions how I might overcome this without resorting to too much butchery of the chassis??

Thanks in advance,
Stuart.

I bought over forty 1/25 static kits a year ago (to resell). The nice gentleman was retiring from model building due to health reasons. He kept trying to sell me one 1/43 static kit. He wanted a lot of money for it at first unlike the 1/25 kits. I just laughed and told him to keep the little kit. The slot car world operates on 1/32 and HO for the most part. I'm not interested.

He eventually wore me down by considerably lowering the price. I can't refuse a good deal, so I bought it... to resell of course.

Then I opened up the box. Oh my... this tiny thing is a jewel with photo etched parts, etc. Uh oh... Is a slot car possible from such a small kit? We'll find out soon enough.

The parts.

A chassis was mapped out and machined. The tires were glued and trued. They started out at 21mm, and ended up at 15.75mm to match the static kit.

Mock-up assembly.

More to follow as I figure out this little challenge. Thank you very kindly for looking.

Spray Booth Turntable

For years I have been using a wooden block turntable shown below for spraying car shells. The shells locate over the block and hold using Blu Tak, which can be a pain to get right due to shell variations and a fixed block, and sometimes somebody has borrowed the blue tak.

So high time I made something better,

This consists of a base with a spindle going to a pegboard plate which takes pegs to hold the shell. On two of the pegs are eccentric cams which can be rotated to touch the shell side to side to stop side movement.

Parts shown above, the spindle shown orange glues into the pegboard green, and then rotates in the base red. The base can be screwed to a larger wood block for extra stability via the 4 fixing holes. Parts printed in PLA at 20% fill 0.2mm layers.

This was a recent new addition to the club and looks like we will be having a class of racing for cars with this chassis in future, so I picked one up today so I can start to prep a car with it.

I think this works out at about 25 quid more or less, depending on the exchange rate when you read this.  For this price it is just missing a car body, everything else to run is included.  I believe it uses the Pointer 5 motor.

This chassis is a change from the previous ones as previously they used a side winder configuration and now as an inline.  Also the parts are mostly a light composite where previously they used steel.  Here it is side by side with my older Plafit 1/32 chassis for comparison.

Will be intersting to see how well this runs as it is very light.  The older ones were heavy but the weight all below the axles so they were pretty solid runners with or without magnets.  It feels a good bit smaller too so should fit some of the smaller car bodies I have.

As with the previous range, there appears to be alot of upgrade/replacement parts available.

I'm lucky enough to be going again this year in a few weeks.

Just checked the programme and two words jumped out...

Taking place on Wednesday 3 April, our next event falls in Easter week, so egg-spect some egg-stra prizes for the winners of all the finals and our overall race winner, top junior, top rookie and top Tuner (maybe a can of tuna?). As usual, doors open at 6.30pm for practice, heats start at 7 and we aim to finish by 9.30.

We return to one of Simon's best WHO Mod tracks, this one used previously in April 2018...

I think that's the first flyover since we returned after the pandemic. Hopefully Gareth retains the muscle memory - he won on that track six years ago.

WHO Mod is our fastest class - probably the fastest slot car racing on the south coast - with more standard hard-bodied cars competing for WHO Tuners honours.

Hello all,

Am hoping someone with knowledge of the early Renault Clio by Ninco can say if they have stickers or tampo printing. I am intending to do a re-livery job so would prefer to buy one with stickers.
