Anyone have a spare stock anglewinder chassis for this body-style Ninco Megane Trophy please?
Bare chassis or a good roller.
Illustration purely to show the body shape - it's not for this particular colourway.
I've finally got the orange 'Frutta' version with a great bodyshell complete and undamaged - but the chassis has seen (much!) better days.
Please PM me with details if you have, thanks.
If it helps, this is what the underside of the chassis looks like:
UPDATED 16/01/2025
As there is not a lot of interest on this forum and it is a bit difficult update in so many places as well as difficulty removing attachments so it is getting a bit messy please refer to any of the following links for further details.

I will update here with new posts regarding race results once the series is underway.
Sorry to all if this is inconvenient, I will still monitor it.
Preamble
The intention of this proxy is to encourage imagination for designers, builders, modelers & tuners, it is not to say that RTR and kit builds are discouraged, they are more than welcome.
The Grp5 class was so unique and open that it had to appeal to every kid’s imagination of the possibilities of development, as such please imagine & create to your own ability and imagination.
- Racing to commence 5th-6th July 2025. (All things being equal)
- Cars to arrive no later than 1 week before to allow testing, warm-ups & repairs as required.
- Any late arrivals will be included and raced in the state received.
$30 USD entry fee covers worldwide postage.
Entry fee is per person no matter how many cars entered.
Hosts are excluded entry fee for their own event.
Entries
Max three entries per person in whatever scale they like.
Classes
Individually raced in each 1:32 & 1:43
Classes are to be confirmed subject to number of entries and may be amalgamated if determined by the host.
1:43 & 1:32 will still be separated out though.
Possible classes include;
- RTR
- 3D Print
- Scratch Built
- Overall Beast of the Beast, if you will.
The Car
Any car that meets the following criteria.
- They must have been able to meet the criteria of the FIA Group 1-4 classification from 1975 - 1982.
NB. It is up to the entrant to provide evidence.
- Between 1972 and 1989 there must have been a minimum of 1000 1:1 touring cars or 400 1:1 grand touring cars produced each year.
- I realise that the Group 5 ended in ’82 but some cars were continued in production, and it is too hard to break down the construction numbers for individual years. I’ll be working on total production numbers / years of construction to give average, if they meet the above criteria then “sweet as bro’.” Otherwise convince me.
- As not all cars that ran were brand new allowance has been made for cars up to three years old at start of this class of racing.
- For example: If the entire run of the car was manufactured between say 1967 & 1974 and met all other requirements then it is eligible.
- For example: If the entire run of the car was manufactured between say 1967 & 1974 and met all other requirements then it is eligible.
- I realise that the Group 5 ended in ’82 but some cars were continued in production, and it is too hard to break down the construction numbers for individual years. I’ll be working on total production numbers / years of construction to give average, if they meet the above criteria then “sweet as bro’.” Otherwise convince me.
- They need not to have ever competed in a 4th Gen Group 5 competition, just need to meet the base criteria.
Width
The FIA requirements state a maximum body width of 2000mm (62.5mm 1:32 or 46.5mm 1:43), excluding mirrors, side exhaust, door handles, but because the likes of sideways/racer take a liberty on scale,
- the body width is limited to 65mm for 1/32, 50mm for 1/43.
- To compensate for the oversized bodies the wheel track is restricted to the 1:1 requirement of 2000mm. Meaning that the track to the outer side of the wheels, front or rear, is restricted to 63mm 1:32 and 47mm 1:43.
- Regardless of the above points - All sideways cars are valid but wheel track must be as close as practical to the above dimensions, this may mean narrower tyres.
- Seen from above, aerodynamic devices need not follow the contour of the shape of the car.
- Those which are not homologated for series-production must fit within the car's frontal projection.
- ln the front
- They may not exceed by more than 10% the wheelbase of the car (measurement made from the overall limit of the coachwork)
- and they may ln no case exceed by 20 cm the overall limits of the original bodywork (Art 269 b)
- they will compulsorily be installed below the horizontal plane passing through the wheel hub and may be inscribed between the lowest suspended part and the ground.
- They may not exceed by more than 10% the wheelbase of the car (measurement made from the overall limit of the coachwork)
- ln the rear
- They may not exceed by more than 20% the wheelbase of the car (measurement made from the overall limit of the coachwork) and they may in no case exceed by 40 cm the overall limits of the original bodywork (Art 269 b).
- They may not exceed by more than 20% the wheelbase of the car (measurement made from the overall limit of the coachwork) and they may in no case exceed by 40 cm the overall limits of the original bodywork (Art 269 b).
- The overall length is guide only, I won't be too strict on enforcing this.
- No car will be disqualified, but a penalty will be imposed for indiscretions. This will be a pro-rata calculation based on average times of the rest of the field for each race.
- The base body of the car must represent an actual car from that era.
- The final shape of the car body is open so long as the modifications are additional to the base body and meet the dimension criteria.
- No removal of the base body shape is allowed with the exception of original wheel arches and underbody areas to make way for guide or chassis supports.
- Mirrors are optional.
- No Vac formed
- Tyres must be fully under the fenders. No tire may project beyond body work, as viewed from above
- No guide must be visible from above
- Driver must be visible and at least represented by a head, partial arms and steering wheel in part, make an effort, at least paint a helmet and overalls.
- Windows must be translucent, substandard translucent ok so long as a driver is recognisable.
- Headlights & tail lights must be represented but do not need to be illuminated.
- Body must be min 1.0mm clear from track.
- Tyres to be rubber of urethane only, NO silicon or foam.
- The rear wheels cannot have a smaller diameter than the front wheels.
- Low friction coating of front wheels is permitted such as CA glue or nail polish.
- No treatment of rear tyres is permitted, any oozy/oily material will incur disqualification of the car “NO EXCEPTIONS”.
- Rims must be from era and appropriate for car entered, scaled appropriately from 15” to 17” (1:32 12mm-13.5mm or 1:43 9mm-10mm).
- Max width of tyres both front and rear is 10mm for 1:32 & 7.5mm for 1:43
- Minimum width is 5mm for both scales
Open, whatever you want to do subject to the following;
- Min 1.5mm clearance from track to underside of chassis at lowest point
- Bottom of motor to be min 1.5mm clear of track
- Inline, angle or sidewinder is acceptable.
- Guide must be able to make Scalextric R1 turns.
- No guides greater than 6mm depth with braid.
- No magnets
- Home track(s) dudes - Recommend no greater than 21k but open.
- Max current draw of 2 amps.
- No capacitors or other electrical devices may be fitted to motor circuit
- Open can is OK.
Livery is open to imagination but must adhere to the following;
- Must have same number on
- both passenger & driver doors
- or may have number on bonnet in lieu of door numbers
- or all three locations
- both passenger & driver doors
- Numbers must be individual no double ups (please advise number wanted ASAP so you do not miss out)
- One small letter after number is fine to differentiate between cars.
- Livery must be in keeping with the era ..... no google or facebook sponsors.
- Sponsor need not have existed but must be era appropriate
example.
ZeGas Racing Supplies ---------------- fine
ZeGas Computer Repairs -------------- not
- No metallic paint body colours ..... excludes wheel rims.

Hi there

Cheers
Sean
Hi All,
Another user put me onto this forum, which I had heard of years back but forgot about.
I am a Kiwi based in NSW Australia, have been into slot cars since 2011 and have been active on Auslot & Slotforum since then.
My interests are more with the design & build of cars & tracks, rather than full on racing.
Am an avid participant of proxy racing.
Until a year ago I concentrated mostly on 1:32 scale but had an idea on how a 1:43 car could be designed and built to compete with 1:32 and am now really enjoying 1:43.
It appears that there is a growing interest worldwide in this scale.
Years ago I did dabble in 1:43 with some Kyosho cars but found even those to be little more than toy cars, beautiful models and well engineered but not easy to tune or modify.
At the moment I am organising a combined 1:32 & 1:43 proxy based on Group 5 Racing cars of the late 70's early 80's.
The twist being that entrants are encouraged to modify a car that would have qualified for Groups 1-4 of the FIA rules for that era into a fully blown Group 5 racer.
I'll post on this forum more about it but in the meantime if anyone is interested please visit the link below to find out more.

Just note that this has recently turned into an international series of 5 races, 3 in Australia, 1 in Germany & 1 in Austria.

Grant
Announced yesterday was a surprise offering from Scalextric.....
Not in the catalogue, or mentioned as an upcoming release, but it looks a cracker
C4300 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Peter John DTM 1982.
Carrying sponsorship from American Car Service Dusseldorf, it is certainly a Patriotic colour scheme!
I don't know anything of the driver, but a very quick Google search drew a blank. I'm not sure of the 1982 DTM series either, but in UK terms this looks like your typical Group 1/ Group 1 1/2 big banger. Either way it will make a great looking addition to any Scalextric Muscle car series.
Available from Hornby Scalextric directly ( cash in some Hornby reward points if you have them) or from many other retailers. I purchased mine from Jadlam, and got £5 off by using a Reward voucher on their loyalty scheme. Free postage also, but it will no doubt get the minimum of a bit of bubble wrap. Their packaging ain't the best....
If anyone finds any info on the driver/actual car, let us know.
The Bill Thomas Cheetah was an American designed sports car and engineered entirely with American components, and built from 1963 to 1966 by Chevrolet performance tuner Bill Thomas. It was developed as a competitor to The Cobra built by Caroll Shelby.
In 1963 Thomas gained covert support from General Motors Performance Product Group head Vince Piggins to develop the Cheetah as a concept vehicle. It was designed by Thomas and Don Edmunds, his lead fabricator. Edmunds is credited with the bulk of the construction of the car. Financing for the project came from private investors, Thomas, and John Grow, a Rialto California Chevrolet dealer. Grow owned the prototype car. Using his racing connections, Thomas arranged for material assistance from Chevrolet for the major components - the Corvette 327 engine, Muncie transmission, and independent rear-end assemblies. Other components were stocked from the larger GM parts bin, such as Chevrolet passenger car spindles, and NASCAR spec Chevrolet drum brakes.
Races, drivers, and owners
Originally, the car was designed with Dave Macdonald in mind as the driver; Thomas and MacDonald had established a long-standing racing relationship in Corvettes. Carroll Shelby offered MacDonald the opportunity to drive the Cobra, which MacDonald accepted. However, MacDonald died on May 30, 1964, driving at Indianapolis.
The Cheetah was to debut at the 1963 LA Time GP but crashed in practice two days before with Don Horvath at the wheel. Its aluminium body was replaced by a fibreglass one. Its first event was at the Cal-Club,Riverside event on February 1, 1964. It crashed at the end of the first lap with Jerry Titus at the wheel. A water hose had come off, spraying water under the rear wheels causing the car to skid off the track at the turn. Titus raced the car throughout the 1964 season. He was a vocal advocate of the Cheetah as a contributing journalist for Sports Car Graphic magazine. In 1965, Jerry Entin became the car's owner (race car number 58) and he raced it with some success. This car was used in the Elvis Presley movie Spinout.
The third car, the first fibreglass bodied, was sold to Ralph Salyer in 1964 and converted to a Roadster,. He raced it in 1964 Challenge Cup at Daytona. It was the most successful racing Cheetah, winning 11 minor events between 1964 and 1965. Salyer's car (race car number 25) was known as the Cro-Sal Cheetah, named after its mechanic Gene Crowe as well as Salyer. Crowe converted it to a roadster to keep Salyer from suffering heat exhaustion due to the problem of heat buildup in the driver's compartment from the exhaust pipes.
Bud Clusserath purchased the fourth car (race car number 46) for the same race. Allan Green brought the fifth car (race car number 17) for Jerry Grant to race in the Challenge Cup, but he crashed in practice.
The sixth car was also ordered by Alan Green Chevrolet of Burien/Seattle, Washington, and was built to racing specifications. It raced in the USSRC race series (race car number 15). Its outstanding documented racing record includes 10 Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA) events in 1964-65. In 2009, this Cheetah received a FIA-issued Historic Technical Passport (HTP). The HTP makes this Cheetah eligible for any FIA-sanctioned vintage event in the world. This is the only Bill Thomas Cheetah to have a HTP. Alan Green Chevrolet took delivery of this Cheetah in March, 1964. It was raced extensively during the 1964 and 1965 seasons, usually under the Alan Green Chevrolet banner. Its maiden race, a California Sports Car Club event, took place at Pomona, California, on March 22, 1964. Although, it was delivered in red, it was repainted "Alan Green green", in approximately June, 1964.
The seventh car was also acquired by Allan Green, for his wife for normal road use.
The eighth car was not raced until more recently at vintage events by Skip Gunnell. Jack Goodman purchased ninth car the Dixon Cadillac (race car number 33) and after it was sold to James Phillips it was modified, winning the 1968 A/SR championship for the Southern Pacific Region of the SCCA in 1968. Don Grieb drag raced the tenth car.[10]

A few of the 1:1 cars
Slotcar:
I guess this car was made famous in the slotcar world back in 64/5 when Cox built it in 1/24th and 1/32nd. Strombecker then made a slightly different motored version
Back in the 60's I could not afford this car and thus it was only in the 90s when I first managed to get one. Subsequently I have picked up a few more when buying collections to the point where I have quite a few now lol!!
COX 1/32nd
Cox 1/24th
Cox 1/24th Cheetaracha
Bauer 1/32nd
Strombecker 1/32nd
GTM Salyer Roadster
Upgraded 1/32nd Cheetahs
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do
It's not exactly a secret but NSR will start releasing a Lola T280/290 in January.
The car will feature some ideas not tried by NSR before but not new ideas to seasoned racers.
The BIG sell for me is the Targa Florio liveries that will be available...
