Surprise Scalextric model! -

Announced yesterday was a surprise offering from Scalextric.....
Not in the catalogue, or mentioned as an upcoming release, but it looks a cracker
C4300 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Peter John DTM 1982.

Carrying sponsorship from American Car Service Dusseldorf, it is certainly a Patriotic colour scheme!
I don't know anything of the driver, but a very quick Google search drew a blank. I'm not sure of the 1982 DTM series either, but in UK terms this looks like your typical Group 1/ Group 1 1/2 big banger. Either way it will make a great looking addition to any Scalextric Muscle car series.
Available from Hornby Scalextric directly ( cash in some Hornby reward points if you have them) or from many other retailers. I purchased mine from Jadlam, and got £5 off by using a Reward voucher on their loyalty scheme. Free postage also, but it will no doubt get the minimum of a bit of bubble wrap. Their packaging ain't the best....
If anyone finds any info on the driver/actual car, let us know.

I am not a rivet counter but on the photos it is not terribly clear... is the "Umlaut" (two dots) missing on Düsseldorf?

Group-C wheels on a Camaro just doesn't look right. What's wrong with the BBS style wheels on the 1:1 car?
Hey, we have extra wheels from an Edsel. What shall we put them on? A Ferrari?

Many thanks to dvd3500 for highlighting the opportunity to apply the ‘umlaut upgrade’ option. I agree it’s nice to make things as perfect as possible (within reason).

Peter John was well known for driving American "muscle cars", particularly Camaros in touring car series.
Not sure if he is still around or not...
