Can anybody help with a source of replacement aftermarket tyres (preferably urethane) for a Revell BMW 320i please?
I have one of these:
Front motored and not the world's greatest performing slot car but I like it. The rear tyres are shot and I am struggling to find replacements. Paul Gage does some (PGT-21137LM) but his UK distributor doesn't stock them and buying from Paul in Canada is way too expensive when you factor in postage costs.
As mentioned in my introductory post yesterday I will be posting pictures of one or two of my projects. This is my latest build of Jack Brabham's BT24 from the Canadian GP of 1967. Currently its running in a proxy in North America. The body shell is modified Pre-wing shell which has been narrowed by 3mm, shortened slightly at the rear and with side panels added below the engine cover.
Best Regards
David

For Mac users out there.
Railmodeller - the German model railway and slot track design software for Mac and IOS, have completed a Policar track system file and will upload it
as an update to the software in the next few days. https://www.railmodeller.com/home-railmodeller.html

I still have no response from Pierrick as to when he will update Ultimate Racer (UR30) to include the Policar track file for Windows PC track design.
But the files are available. Message me if you want a copy of the Policar track system file to add to your installation of UR30
Mitoos added loads of new 1/32 scale waterslide decal sheets to their range last autumn (see here) - and they are back with a couple more that are really rather quirky...
M550 - Funny 1 (Nidea etc)
M551 - Funny 2 (Hell etc)
These could certainly help create some very individual re-liveries. Expect to pay around £6 to £6.50 per sheet.
Also just arrived in the UK are some vinyl peel & stick racing numbers, ideal for events - especially useful if lanes are numbered, or for digital IDs...
There are four different sets...
M520 - numbers 1-10 (60 stickers in total)
M521 - numbers 1-8 (80 stickers in total)
M522 - numbers 1-6 (60 stickers in total)
M523 - numbers 1-4 (40 stickers in total)
The two 60-sticker packs will cost around the same as the Mitoos waterslide decals, the 40-sticker pack will be less, the 80-sticker sheet a little more.
Mitoos products are distributed in the UK by Staffs Slot Cars and all these decals will be on sale very soon at Pendle Slot Racing, MRE and MC Slots. Thanks to Steve for sending us the pictures and release information. The Mitoos website (in Spanish) is: mitoos.com
Hi
I'm a member of a number of other forums and recently discovered this one. My main interests are GP and F1 cars of the fifties, sixties and seventies although I have been know to build thirties cars and the odd sports car. I rarely purchase ready to runs unless they are really good such as the Policar F1s. I build cars from 'kits' such as Pre-Wing but also carve my own bodies. I've also done a few Policar conversions on Scalextric legends cars. I'll post a few examples of my work over the next few weeks but here is a Ferrari 312 from 1967 I built for a proxy a couple years ago. The body is from my own carving and moulded and cast by that master of the art and my good friend John Warren.

We've got a problem, our emails are being blocked, which means our registration system isn't working properly. It's not our fault, it's an external problem, but obviously we have to deal with it.
I'll try to explain in a bit more detail later, but there is something we need everyone to do as soon as possible please.
We need you to delete your subscriptions, as they seem to be causing the problems, particularly email notifications which are being rejected by some systems.

The C4084A Tyrrell P34 Swedish GP 1976 Twin Pack was certainly one of the highlights of the 2020 Scalextric catalogue - and it is arriving with UK retailers now, RRP £85.99.
A limited edition of 3,000 units, the twin pack is the best seller on the Scalextric website this month. I had a close look at it when the 2020 range was unveiled in January...
The cars of Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler come in the usual Limited Edition Legends box with a numbered card. The cars themselves are beautifully detailed...
The significance of the 1976 Swedish Grand Prix is it's the only Formula One World Championship race to have been won by a six-wheel car. The Tyrrell 'Project 34' was a truly revolutionary design and raced successfully in 1976 and 1977. Designed by Derek Gardner, the aim was to give the car better aerodynamic flow over the front wheels. The four ten-inch wheels gave a similar contact patch to a pair of standard wheels and tyres. Although the car performed well on fast, smooth tracks, the tiny Goodyear tyres struggled with grip on more bumpy road surfaces.
Jody Scheckter hated the car, describing it as "a piece of junk". Teammate Patrick Depailler was much more of a fan, qualifying the P34 third on the grid at its debut in Spain. A brake failure led to him crashing out of the race, the small brake discs tending to overheat. However, the following month - and just two weeks after a double-podium at Monaco - Scheckter and Depailler finished 1-2 at Anderstorp...
Ten podiums in thirteen races during 1976 - and third in both the drivers' and constructors' championships - was a fantastic achievement for the new car. However, some minor rule changes and a lack of tyre development by Goodyear meant a dip in fortunes. Depailler was joined by Ronnie Peterson for 1977 and the P34s were plagued by retirements, managing only eight finishes in the points - although four of those were podiums. Depailler's ended the season with a second in Canada and third in Japan, but Fuji would be the final race for the P34.
I am sure we will see some more 1976 and some 1977 liveries from Scalextric on the P34. If you do want a 1977 P34 now, I looked at Pendle kit with 3D chassis and Policar motor pod here: https://slotracer.online/community/showt...p?tid=1052
The first two Fly Hesketh 308B models have - at last - arrived. And the James Hunt car is selling out very fast...
There are plenty of fabulous pics and stats - as always - over at Pendle Slot Racing, where you can still buy both cars at the time of writing for £49.50 each...

So what's the big fuss? Firstly, a lot of slot car enthusiasts are of an age that the 1970s F1 cars really mean something. All the Fly F1 cars are particularly lovely too. But the combination of Hesketh and Hunt is something a bit special...
The ITV documentary "When Playboys Ruled the World" - about the lives of James Hunt and Barry Sheene - is definitely worth watching in its entirety here.
The Hesketh Racing Formula One era - with Lord Hesketh at the helm and James Hunt driving - lasted just three years and was utterly glorious. They started out with a March 731 in 1973, picking up unlikely podiums at Zandvoort and Watkins Glen. Together with the car, Hesketh also brought in a young designer from March - one Harvey Postlethwaite - who modified the 731 and then designed the all-new Hesketh 308 for the 1974 season.
Powered by the Ford Cosworth DFV (Lord Hesketh had planned to produce his own V12), the 308 was the first of many Postlethwaite classics - a pretty conventional design, fast, but rather unreliable. Hunt put the 308 on pole at its debut at the Brands Hatch Race of Champions, but span out on lap four. At the 1974 International Trophy at Silverstone (I was there), Hunt recovered from clutch and gear stick problems to beat Ronnie Peterson's Lotus for the race win. In the World Championship, Hunt struggled to make it to the end of races - although when he did, he finished near the front. Hunt and Hesketh ended the 1974 season having scored third place finishes at the Swedish, Austrian and USA Grand Prix, plus a fourth in Canada.
The 1975 season started with some modifications to the car - now designated 308B. The most obvious is the second front wing or 'cow-catcher' and the repositioned oil radiators. Underneath, there was Postlethwaite's revolutionary rubber sprung front suspension. With four 308 chassis built, two were sold to other teams - including the Harry Stiller Racing car driven by Alan Jones at Monte Carlo. In Hunt's hands, the 308B was competitive throughout the 1975 season, challenging for the win at the first two Grand Prix, before grabbing a historic victory in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and going on to finish fourth in the World Championship.
The win at Zandvoort was a memorable one - the plucky British playboy privateers somehow beating world-champion-elect Niki Lauda and the might of Maranello. Hunt had qualified third, behind the two Ferraris. Rainstorms - which, with the Zandvoort sand, gave all the cars a yellow tinge - delayed the start of the Grand Prix and meant all the cars started on wet tyres. Hunt dropped back early on, but an early stop for dry tyres saw him in the lead after everyone else had been to the pits. Lauda put Hunt under enormous pressure for the final 20+ laps, but the Hesketh driver stayed ahead - something he'd failed to do at the season-opener in Buenos Aires. The Ferrari was quicker through the corners, but the Hesketh had the legs on the straights. Hunt's victory was greeted by a huge roar from the Dutch crowd.
The Fly model captures that day - including the sand-coloured body panels behind the front wheels. It is a super looking car and an icon of 1970s Formula One racing. It is going to be a difficult one to resist!
At the end of 1975, Lord Hesketh withdrew from Formula One, Hunt moved to McLaren and Postlethwaite took a new design to the Wolf-Williams team. However, Hesketh Racing did live on for another three years in the hands of co-founder and team manager Anthony 'Bubbles' Horsley. Time was finally called halfway through the 1978 season.
Hi All,
I'd like to prep a loaner Nascar to lend out to people and it occurred to me that it would be quite fun if it was a Tesco Value sponsored car. I'm terrible at graphic design so I was wondering if one of you talented people could have do it for me for a fee?
Here's a rough sketch of what I see the car as being. Please excuse my appalling drawing skills which go along with my rubbish graphic design....and sense of humour!
This is the Value logo I'd like to base the car on which would go on the bonnet/hood. Might be better to say Racecar so that it is multi purpose for other people.
And then here is the top and side view. Its basic but I think that works and would look cool.
So if you can help, give me a shout!
Cheers
Gareth
Not happened before but the last couple of times (yesterday and again today) I've tried to email hyperlinks about different parts of this forum to someone else the email gets stopped from leaving my Outbox and I get 'Virus warning' message.
I used to be able to send hyperlinks to other club members telling them the latest race report is on here - but seemingly, not now.
I've tried using hyperlinks from various other sites and they go just fine. So, is it something about this site?
