IMPORTANT!!! PLEASE READ - JasonB - 27th-Feb-20

We've got a problem, our emails are being blocked, which means our registration system isn't working properly. It's not our fault, it's an external problem, but obviously we have to deal with it.

I'll try to explain in a bit more detail later, but there is something we need everyone to do as soon as possible please.

We need you to delete your subscriptions, as they seem to be causing the problems, particularly email notifications which are being rejected by some systems.

  1. To do this, go to your USER CP from the menu on the left of the Forum and Portal pages.
  2. There you'll see a menu on the left, at the bottom of which you'll find Subscribed Threads & Forum Subscriptions.
  3. Click on Subscribed Threads, select all of your subscriptions in the check box, then click th GO button next to delete subscriptions.
  4. Repeat for Forum Subscriptions.

Hello Jason,
Have deleted all my Threads and Forums subscriptions now.
Had difficulty with the one Forum Subscription I had - had to go to the Forum (Sales) and unsubscribe there.
(Got a 404 error when I clicked the linky at bottom left in Firefox, Opera and Edge)

It seems that some of our automatically generated emails, particularly email notifications, have been interpreted as spam by some busy body algorithm somewhere. What's worse, the algorithm has grassed us up to the coppers, or automatically informed our site hosting company (however you want to word it), where another automatic process locked us down good and proper.

So basically three different computer systems got in a mood with each other, and with no human involvement at all, our emails got blocked, first to one member, then to everybody with the same company, and shortly afterwards to everybody. Tappingfoot

Ain't modern technology great? I guess we should be grateful that someone is making the effort to cut down on the endless spam, but they got the wrong guy guvnor, honestly.

Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon, and we can taste the sweet, fresh air of freedom once again. Wrench

But I'm afraid the email notifications system for subscribed threads has to go. It's done nothing wrong, it's only done what it's been asked to do,  but it's obviously seen as a trouble maker by the rozzers.

We're working on that and when we've sorted things out it should be okay to use PM subscriptions again. But what we can't do is delete your current subscriptions, as that's your own private stuff.

So please everybody delete your subscriptions.

Not the greatest problem to live without it anyway. If, as I do, you just look at all the recent posts everyday, you shouldn't miss anything interesting.

The e-mail /Internet provider of my Mom: wowway.com is one of the very few independent ISPs still left out there.
At least one time a year they get flagged as SPAM/Malicious or whatever and I don't e-mails from her.

After a very long conversation with my e-mail provider they basically said they subscribe to a list of "bad" ISPs and always upload it without looking at it.

The list comes from, surprise, a committee within the largest ISP (ComCast, Nextel etc). The argument being that they get the most mail so they have the best idea.

The fact that a small, independent ISP can in no way be a massive spammer doesn't seem to enter into it...

I actually have a protest/contest letter I change the date on to get the ISP off the black list.

They (Comcast et al) claim they have good reason to blacklist but it sure looks like they are heaving the competition out of the way...
