Hi all.
I have for sale this pair of Scalextric Vantage GT3's, boxed and test laps only.
I would like to sell them as a pair but will split if two people want one each at the same time, although priority will go to any buyer that takes both ;)
Postage will be £4.00 to the UK, other destinations will need to be calculated. £70 the pair.
Hi all.
I have for sale this used but good condition Sideways Ford GT.
It was used with a different pod/motor/gearing and guide but I have installed the stock unused pod and motor along with the stock guide.
Rear tyres are stock glued and trued, rear body post has been trimmed to correct the massive arch gap at the rear, and the wing needs a support gluing back on but is complete (comes this way as supplied, just I obviously used the wrong glue !). There is no glue on the body as I just had it sitting in the slots with blu-tack.
Comes in a Sideways box, just not the correct one ;)
Postage to the UK is included, all other destinations will need to be calculated. £47
When you love Aston Martin you need to have at least one to race.
This is new and goes well though it does make a slightly different noise to some of the other cars.
The issue is something on the underside of the car (it does seem a very low car) catches/scrapes on certain parts of the track, especially going over the digital elements like lane changers.
What should I do?
All help and advice welcome.
A very exciting new project for 1:24 scale fans is this Mk1 Capri from BRM. Described on the BRM Facebook page as a 'Ford Capri Gr.2' - the CAD drawings look like the 1971 version of the RS2600, with the rear wheel arches not as pronounced as they became in '72 and '73. BRM have a tendency to produce these Group 2 and Mini Saloon cars in two slightly different versions - so playing with those wheel arches would be ideal. I'll come back to that in a moment, but let's look at what this car is all about...
The RS2600 was a joint German-British venture - Ford Europe somehow convincing the FIA that the Capri was actually a saloon car and therefore eligible for the European Touring Car Championship. Initially worked on by Jochen Neerpasch and the Ford Köln works team, the aim was to create an ultra-lightweight Capri with the V6 developed at Weslake and made race-ready at Boreham in Essex. Early iterations for 1969 and 70 looked crude, but showed promise. By 1971, the lightweight RS2600 was successfully homologated. However, there was still plenty of work to do. The 2.8 litre V6 (later increased to 2,933cc) needed more tweaking at Boreham before it delivered a full 285bhp.
The BRM car looks like the Capri here, itself restored to represent a 1971 ETCC RS2600. These works Capris were fast, stable and increasingly reliable, picking up wins and the drivers' championship for team leader Dieter Glemser. The Capri - modified with slightly bigger arches to take wider wheels - was utterly dominant in 1972, winning all but one of the races, including a 1-2-3 at the Spa 24-hours. This time, Jochen Mass winning the drivers' title.
The rear arches of the 1972 looked like these cars, with more of a boxy look and the small vents - as on the SRC 1:32 scale RS2600. This would also pass for the 1973 model, although the wheel arches came out a smidgeon more. By then, the RS2600 was struggling with rear-end stability - it desperately needed a spoiler on the trunk, but as this was not on the production car, it couldn't be homologated. As the RS2600 got faster, it got lighter at the back, leading John Fitzpatrick to describe the 1973 Capri as "the worst handling racing car I have ever driven..."
BRM certainly have plenty of great contemporary and modern historic racing liveries to choose from. The RS2600 was replaced with the RS3100 in 1974 - fitted with a duck-tail spoiler and even bigger and more boxy rear wheel arches. But that's a different beast altogether.
When BRM release more images and information about their Group 2 Capri, I'll post it here. Availability is scheduled for the autumn.
My batch of R&R figures arrived with 1:32 scale speed from the UK to me in the Netherlands. Their trip lasted six weeks.
First I sanded their feet to keep them upright. In contrast to 3D figures, these resin figures must be deburred well.
Air bubbles also need to be filled. Next, I'll start painting all skin surfaces followed by the rest.

The NSCC has just celebrated its 40th Anniversary, it was formed to bring together both racers and collectors, initially of Scalextric, but now all types of slot cars.
The club has been instrumental in organising swapmeets; currently Milton Keynes and Leeds, members enjoy free entrance. You'll also find an NSCC stall at other swpameets.
We hold an annual weekend in Ramsgate; here we race, talk slot cars, visit Hornby where we have had presentations on new developments, the range and production process, a charity auction of special items, some of which were donated by Scalextric, raises money for Hornby's favourite charity.
We also produce limited edition cars annually and for events; Milton Keynes, Leeds and Ramsgate, some of these are very collectable and command high values when they do appear for sale.
The jewel in our crown is the Journal, our editor produces a monthly full colour A5 Journal covering new releases from major manufacturers, historical items, kit bashing and building, a run down of ebay sales and much more.
All this for the princely sum of £35pa,slightly more for Europe and the Rest of the World.
If you want more details catch up with us on our website www.nscc.co.uk, facebook ((2) NSCC (National Scalextric Collectors Club) Group | Facebook) or twitter @NatScalextric
The WRC+ subscription has risen this year to £99.99 for the year or £10.99 per month. Okay, that now gives you all the European Rally Championship events too - so good value… if you can spend a lot of time glued to the live coverage.
If, like me, life is a bit too busy to justify the full package - I often ended up only watching a couple of stages and the evening highlights - then there’s a collection of free alternatives available during the weekend…
1. Red Bull TV app
The full 30-minute WRC highlights are available each evening from 9pm UK time. The Red Bull TV app is available on most platforms, including Android, iOS and Fire - plus PlayStations, smart TVs, Amazon TV Firestick etc.
2. WRC app and website - full live timing is available free, as are a number of videos - including the route map and various short previews, features and short snippets of action during the weekend. And - of course - if you want to buy WRC+ to ‘attend’ a specific rally, it’s £10.99. Just don’t forget to cancel your subscription before it renews automatically.
3. WRC YouTube - shakedown is sometimes shown live and there are also most of the free videos from the WRC app and website.
4. DirtFish website and YouTube Channel. Okay, not everyone’s cup of tea, but I do like the enthusiasm and coverage from the American-based DirtFish team. Expect a preview videos, interviews, short highlights each evening and plenty of analysis…
For me, that combination is not a bad package - available when and where is most convenient for you.
Anyone else have other tips?
Last week I 3D printed a Sunbeam Tiger and vividly remember the classic race over here in the Isle of Man and today google found me a video of the events.
I watched the race past the TT grandstand from the corner at the top of St. Ninians where the cars turned right and headed towards Willaston...
...was it really 30 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...tomorrow I'll test drive my 1/32 scale version...looking forward to it
