Help with Scratch building a 1:24 (4 inch) Flexi car and have no idea where to start.
The car will be for class racing, the rules are:
Current Friday Night Flexi Rules:
4" Open Flexi's (raced on a banked corner track)
• Any Motor Permitted.
• Any Bodies apart from Wing Bodies.
• Bearings: Standard Oilites Only - May bo soldered or glued to the chassis.
• Wheels: Rear: Any 3/32 Commercially available.
• Tyres may be taped or cleaned with She!lite. No tyre goo
Newbie questions regarding componentsto buy, if possible could you provide the manufacturer chassis code, tia, include:
1. Chassis,
2. Motor,
3. Gearing,
4. Rear wheels and tyres,
5. Front wheels,
6. Bearings (no oilites)
7. Axles (front and rear)
I've been suggested these few items:
1. Chassis: C26T
2. Motor: Hawk99b (can't find this in search results),
3. Gearing 11/37
I've done several searches for this including Flexi information and haven't come across much, I'm not looking at YouTube videos for now, looking more for printed material such as forums etc.
Thanks
Johnno
In the 1950s, Carroll Shelby became recognized as one of the most internationally successful drivers in the European race circuits ( He won Le mans in an Aston Martin). By the early 1960s, he retired from driving to start Shelby American Inc., and start constructing his own racecars. His first major American success came with the 427 Cobra, which was an AC Acea that he shoehorning aFord V8 which won year after year in both the SCCA Sports Racing Class and the U.S. Road Racing Championship. In January 1963, however, he turned his sights towards the newly developed SCCA Can-Am series, created for purpose-built racecars, instead of stock production cars.
Shelby quickly realized that his Cobras were no match for the custom builds in the SCCA/Can-Am series, so he set to developing an entirely new build. As he wouldn’t have the time nor the resources to build a car from the ground up, he put a call in to John Cooper, the co-founder of Cooper Car Company in the UK. Cooper’s latest race model, the 61M “Monaco,” fit Shelby’s needs, so he purchased two chassis: CM/1/63 and CM/3/63.
CM/3/63 was the first Cooper Monaco to deliver a victory for Shelby at the Pacific Northwest Grand Prix in Kent, Washington, in September, 1963. It was raced through the 1964 season, then retired and presumably torn down for parts. After being passed through a few owners, Robert Green of Santa Cruz, California purchased the car in 1970, and had it authenticated by Carroll Shelby himself. Green thoroughly researched the car’s history and development, and fully restored it in 1991. He took great care to retain as many original parts as possible. These include the body side panels, the Plexiglas windshield, the intake manifold, the oil pan, the valve covers, and the ZF Transaxle.
Though six total King Cobras were constructed through the 1964 season, this is one of few to be used over more than one season, and the only surviving chassis from 1963.
The car below is chassis CM/3/63. Upon arrival to the Shelby American factory in California, both chassis were reinforced to handle the impressive size and weight of a Ford V8 engine.
With my limited skills I decided to have a go at this version of the car. The original version from Monogram in the 60's had the exhausts exiting next to the carbs.
Some filling and modelling was needed as this car had the exhausts out the back.
Below are the versions modelled by Monogram - first came the closed wheel version, then the open wheel later version, and slightly more difficult to find, and the the Orange re-release by MRRC. I initially thought that the orange version was a cheap rip off of the later Lang Cooper produced by revell, but I was wrong. Craig Lang purchased a Cooper cobra, initially painted it orange no 97 and raced it. Then updated the bodywork into the now familiar Revell version.
I had to cut out rear cover, and fill in exhaust vents.
Then had to manufacture exhausts and suspension detail:
Added decals - and added driver deck. This is attached to the mabuchi and not the body. This is the current position of the car. STill quite a way to go to finish and tidy up.
I have to admit that Monogram and Revell (to a lesser degree) are my favourite slot cars. For the time and even now the detail is amazing.
WHO Digital Saturday - 19 November, 10am-5pm
Regulations and formats can be found here: http://www.whoracing.org.uk/who_digital_...02020.html
Doors open at 10am - please don’t arrive earlier… unless you are part of the set-up crew, of course! As always, we ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them. Race fees: £6 for adults, £4 for under-16s - or £3/£2 for a half day. We now have cashless payment options and will be offering season ticket deals ready for the start of 2023. Please ask Terry for details.
Digital Saturday format: There’s time for practice after doors open at 10am, but our club car rotation begins sharp at 10.30am. Please don’t be late. The rotation is a great way to get into the groove and learn the track. You’ll drive each of the six club cars for two minutes each - including a pit stop. The aim is to complete as many laps as possible. The day then progresses with a reverse grid BTCC race, Group C and Muscle Car Mondiale - plus a GT team race that kicks off the afternoon’s action. There’s a break for lunch (you’ll need to provide your own) and we aim to finish by 5pm. Full details are in the 2022 WHO Digital Guide: http://www.whoracing.org.uk/who_digital_...02020.html
Covid precautions: It seems sensible to keep our usual common-sense precautions in place to keep vulnerable members of the extended WHO family safe. The main thing is to stay away if you have any symptoms that could be Covid. Inside the Barn, wearing a face mask, practising good hand-hygiene and giving each other space are non-negotiable requirements. We will ensure as good ventilation as possible - and also have hand sanitiser and spare masks available if you forget your own. Any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
** This event has now been cancelled. I hope to arrange some 2023 dates in due course **
The UK Nostalgia Nationals was to be the final event in a slightly extended 2022 schedule at the Rock County Eighth Mile. In January 2023, we'll mostly be running cars with pre-1979 bodies - the one exception is our regular Micro Scalextric Street Stock class. The regulations and format are in the 'UK HO Drag Proxy Series 2022 Preview' thread here.
These are the classes we'll be running...
- Micro Scalextric Street Stock
- Nostalgia Micro Scalextric 2019 - pre-79 bodies
- Nostalgia 4-Gear - e.g. 60s & 70s Funny Car bodies
- Nostalgia T-Jet - e.g. Gasser, Hot Rod & Super Stock bodies
- Nostalgia X-Traction / Magnatraction - e.g. 70s Pro Stock bodies
- Nostalgia match racing & exhibitions very welcome - post your challenges below!
The Format: The events runs mid-week on Tuesday and Wednesday, with coverage of qualifying and racing during both days.
Sending cars: Aim for your cars to arrive in Brighton at least 72 hours before the first day of the event, so they can be quarantined (if necessary) and then registered for qualifying. Please also pack in a small box - max height 7.5cm if possible. These races are designed to be Covid-safe events that are accessible to everyone. You may - of course - send cars for several races or the full duration of the series - just let me know.
How to enter: Send me a private message or add a reply below. One car per class may be entered per person. Family members and friends are very welcome to enter too. I will message you with the address to send cars to. You will need to pay for return postage. Otherwise there is no race fee.
Overseas entrants must talk to me about customs forms on their parcels! The recipient (me) will normally be charged 20% of the stated value of the parcel, plus an £8 handling fee. As cars sent to these races are not commercial goods, I need to explain how to alert UK customs to this fact and avoid those fees.

I have aScalextric Digital track with 6 car powerbase, Pit stop Game and Digital lap counter. Do you have anyone there that is an expert on Scalextric that would be willing to come out and help me learn how to operate it all? I would be glad to pay for the service.
I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks you

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that we have recently started listing Calendar Events more prominently on the Portal page.
But from next Monday, we are also going to start posting a list of upcoming events from the Calendar in The Digest, our round up of news and features, which appears weekly on our Home Page.
The Home Page is one of the most visited pages on site, and we're hoping that by featuring your events so prominently, we might be able to promote and publicise them to a wider audience.
So, don't be shy, get your club races, proxy races, swap meets, or any other slot related events into the Calendar and it will get a mention on the Home Page. The Digest is also promoted on Facebook and Instagram, so that's another audience, and any events with a great photo, or poster might even be featured in its own right.
Racing will be back on tonight at East Worthing Scalextric Club. Doors open from 6:30pm and racing from 7pm. Cars include Group C and GT3 tonight. More information can be found on our facebook page:

WHO Nascar & Gen 6 Cup Race Night - Wednesday 2 November - Round 11 of the 2020-22 WHO club championship.
We'll be racing on an AFX version of another defunct Nascar circuit, but this time it's a totally legendary North American racing venue...
Wednesday evening is the finale of our 2020-2 WHO Nascar championship, with the standings looking like this...
The AFX Mega-G+ Gen6 class has a special winner-takes-all shoot-out at the end of the evening - any drivers who've won the Gen 6 class during the 2020-2 season qualify, with any remaining spaces on the four-car grid filled by the top points scorers. This is how it looks...
Our HO regulations can be found here: https://www.whoracing.org.uk/rules.html
Doors open at 6.30pm - please don’t arrive earlier (unless you’re part of the set-up crew, of course). We ask that all racers aged 12 or younger bring a responsible adult with them. Race fees: £3 adults and £2 under-16s.
Club Cars & Controllers: Our AFX Mega-G+ club cars remain available – each of them stays on its coloured lane. We also have a big box of DS, Parma and Ninco loaner controllers to borrow one for the whole evening. There is no extra charge for using either the club cars or the controllers.
Covid precautions: Covid cases are rather high at the moment, so we’ll be keeping our usual common-sense precautions to keep vulnerable members of our WHO family safe. The main thing is to stay away if you feel unwell or think you might have Covid.
Results and a race report will follow on Thursday
